Esports Insider, (ESI) the leading business news site, media, and events company, are proud to announce the inaugural ESI Hall of Fame Awards taking place on September 20th at London’s iconic Natural History Museum.
Three titans of the esports industry who have built, moulded and continue to shape the sector will be commemorated to become the first Hall of Fame members. These inaugural Hall of Famers will be announced on the night itself. ESI has ensured that awards form a part of the official closing party for ESI London, the biggest esports business conference of the year, which is taking place from September 18th to 20th at Olympia London.
The ESI Hall of Fame awards recognise those individuals who have gone the extra mile over the years to help build and legitimise the industry, from team owners, to those behind the scenes of tournaments, to analysts, hosts, commentators, journalists and more. Those who are helping to enable players and young hopefuls to now view playing their favourite game as a very real and viable career path.
Sam Cooke, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Esports Insider, said: “This is something we’ve been looking to do for some time. ESI London is our 9th event and will be our biggest yet.
“We’ve come a long way to help to create a professional environment and to become one of the leading providers of esports business news and opinion, as well as create some of the best received esports business events and conferences globally. Our aim has always been to support the industry and to share knowledge, experience and best practises with a view to ultimately generate growth for new talent and companies looking to get involved with the industry. The ESI Hall of Fame Awards looks to bring the industry together to celebrate those who have played an integral part in building it. We want to help to tell and share their stories to a wider audience.”
This year the awards will also take place alongside the third edition of the SBC Sports Betting Hall of Fame Awards which celebrates the top best achievers in the betting and gaming industries. This enables the team to host the first ESI Hall of Fame evening in the iconic location that is the Natural History Museum.
The ESI Hall of Fame will be an ongoing and long-term project, with three new members added each year henceforth. EsportsInsider.com will also host extensive content focused on the achievements and life stories of each of the inductees following September 20th. The aim here being to provide a long lasting legacy for the Hall of Famers, and to showcase to everyone their commitment, sacrifice and hard work.
For 2018 the decision-making process was kept internal at ESI. A new judging process will be decided for year two where discussions will be open to the public, fans and communities.
ESI, whose parent company is SBC Global, a gambling industry media and events company, has run nine events across the last three years. ESI London takes place on 18 – 20th September at Olympia London and will be their biggest conference yet with over 60 speakers including CEOs and owners of leading esports organisations such as Fnatic, CompLexity, Team Vitality, NiP, North and more through to prolific tournament organisers such as ESL. Topics will range from the ins and outs of running a team, building a brand in esports, through to the value of franchised leagues for the industry at large, data-driven storytelling and more. The conference will also include an exhibition space, workshops, live debates and panels, tournaments, and three official networking parties after hours with around 400 attendees, over 3 days.
