AB InBev has always been at the forefront of innovation and the current pandemic has not halted the company’s drive to bring its customers enjoyment and a distraction from today’s slumber. The result is a new global bar experience: Cooldown.
What is Cooldown?
TheCooldown.gg is entirely focused on the newest media revolution, esports. The competitive gaming world has been on the rise for a number of years, with more than 6.5 million monthly viewers in the UK alone and a £1 billion global turnover. Internal research indicated esports was a highly unexplored market and that its fans enjoy the company of friends as they watch the games.
The remarkable fact is that esports, an industry impervious to any form of lockdown as every tournament continued online and attracted increased viewership, reaches a target audience (21 – 35 years old) that is often beyond reach on current platforms and media. More than two thirds of under 35s play or watch gaming content*.
With CoolDown, esports fans can look and ask for viewing parties in their local bars, opening a new pastime for friends in these post-covid times. At the same time, it offers an opportunity to our bar partners to tap into the unbridled growth of an emerging industry as they post their own events and attract a new audience. Both customer and bar owners are notified of each other’s intentions, helping them set up a successful event together.

Esports is booming and thanks to its wide range of games and competitions provides plenty of opportunities to engage customers”, said José García, Esports Lead. “Considering the world is unlocking again, it was the right time to launch Cooldown and give gamers, esports fans and bar owners a new lease on life and another reason to go out and enjoy a good match of esports with their friends”, José concluded.
OpTic Gaming viewing party and giveaway
Consumers can request a viewing party and bars can also set up their own event, but Cooldown itself will also organize major events throughout the year, with major influencers, esports teams, contests, giveaways and more.
To illustrate that for the launch, Cooldown will collaborate with one of the world’s largest esports teams, OpTic Gaming. OpTic’s fans, known as the Green Wall, are some of the most ardent esports fans in the world, with an enormous fan base in the UK as well.
“When AB InBev contacted us with their proposal to bring together esports fans at bars and locations to watch esports together, we were instantly on board. Our fans are an incredibly cohesive community and are always eager to support us together,but lacked the opportunity to do so. Cooldown cleverly fills that void for the GreenWall and that is why we wanted to contribute as much as possible”, Hector “HECZ” Rodriguez – Founder/CEO OpTic gaming said.
Accompanying the launch of the platform is a £10,000 giveaway with a myriad of prizes geared towards gamers and esports, including custom PS5’s, gaming chairs, game vouchers and much more. This all culminates in an online tournament with Optic and a dazzling official OpTic Gaming viewing party on the 24th of July, where fans can come together and watch the final Call of Duty Major unfold before their very eyes at a prime location, which will be revealed at a later date.

In the upcoming months, the platform will not only provide bars and fans with an overview of esports events and locations, but also highlight major esports news and allow fans to engage in a fantasy esports league. More information about its global expansion will be divulged at a later date.
