Our Future Games Show at Gamescom 2026 Take
The Future Games Show at gamescom 2026 was certainly packed.
With more than 40 games featured across the main presentation and FGS Live From gamescom, there was no shortage of new projects to discover. The showcase also managed to deliver 12 world premieres, which is a respectable number for a single event. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
What stood out to us most was the sheer variety. One minute you’re watching Onimusha: Way of the Sword demonstrate brutal samurai combat, and the next you’re looking at a game about running a DVD shop by day and being an assassin by night.
There are also some particularly interesting projects hiding among the larger announcements. Wolcen II, Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms, Tides of Annihilation, NO LAW, Ritual Tides and BLACK WALLS are all games we’ll be keeping an eye on.
For established franchises, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, Serious Sam: Shatterverse, Moonlighter 2 and The Sinking City 2 provided some of the more recognisable names.
But perhaps the biggest strength of the Future Games Show is that it doesn’t rely entirely on the industry’s biggest publishers. A large portion of the presentation was dedicated to smaller studios and unusual ideas that might otherwise struggle to get the same level of attention.
Some of these games will inevitably disappear into the enormous sea of releases arriving over the next couple of years. Others could end up becoming surprise hits.
And honestly, that’s exactly why showcases like this are worth watching.
You never quite know which game is going to appear on screen for three minutes and make you think, “Hang on… that actually looks really good.”
Which Future Games Show 2026 Announcement Are You Most Excited About?
There was a lot to take in across both presentations, so we’d love to know which announcement caught your attention.
Was it one of the established franchises such as Onimusha, Worms or Warhammer 40,000, or did one of the completely new games grab you?
