The vampyres of Morytania are promising redemption for Old School RuneScape adventurers who bravely survive Theatre of Blood, a new raid for groups of up to five players that launches today.
Voted into the game by ~90% of over 40,000 polled players, Theatre of Blood sees raiding parties running the gauntlet of battle-thirsty warriors, nightmarish creatures, and facing taxing, life-threatening puzzles. The final act is a bitter fight for survival against Lady Verzik Vitur, one of the last true-born vampyres left in Gielinor.
The new PvE raid features a new wiping death mechanic for Old School RuneScape, where players who die will watch from the sidelines while your surviving teammates continue fighting that room’s challenges.
Once the room has been overcome, you will revive and continue into the Theatre with the rest of your team. However, if the whole party dies, the raid is lost. While earned rewards can be collected outside the Theatre, the number of deaths met by the party during your run through the arena negatively affects the chance of obtaining a unique reward.
Mathew Kemp, Senior Product Manager, Old School RuneScape said:
“As always, we’ve collaborated closely with the Old School RuneScape community throughout the development of Theatre of Blood to make sure it was a worthy follow up to the game’s first raid, The Chambers of Xeric.
“With such an emphatic vote backing the raid, we knew it was important to deliver a really engaging challenge for players looking to run the dangerous gauntlet of the Theatre. With the invaluable feedback of our community, pro-raiders, and content creators, we have delivered a blood-sucking raid worthy of the anticipation!”
