Japanese game developer Soleil and Gameforge is to bring rowdy third-person shooter RockShot to Steam Early Access this Summer in North America and Europe.
In a world shattered by an orbital collision, ruffians, rockers, and degenerates must forge teams and defend their turf in explosive firefights. Supremacy is the number one goal in RockShot’s chaotic world, so teams must coordinate their attacks to strategically dismantle the opposition and expand their territories. RockShot isn’t for the faint-hearted!
“We’re very proud to be adding another high-caliber action title to our portfolio,” said Alexander Rösner, CEO of Gameforge. “RockShot is an innovative shooter which is bound to set a few new trends. We’re excited to hear the community’s feedback during the Early Access phase. It’s only by working together with the players that we’ll be able to offer a truly solid title.”
“Gameforge is extremely experienced in the world of free-to-play titles and provides extensive coverage in the Western Hemisphere, making them the ideal partner for us,” said Yoshifuru Okamoto, CEO of Soleil. “We want to establish RockShot in western markets and add our contribution to the genre’s continued evolution. In this we’re extremely grateful to Gameforge for the devotion and understanding they’ve shown to RockShot from the very beginning, and we’re looking forward to rocking the world together.”
In RockShot’s RAID Mode, teams can design and build their own bases, defending them tooth and nail against enemy assaults, or infiltrate the bases of their enemies and extend their sphere of influence on the map. An easy to learn base-editor ensures players and their friends can build the base that best represents their squad. Earned resources can be invested in a powerful arsenal to keep the enemy at bay — from standard issue firearms and machine guns to marvelous melee weapons like katanas or even “Flying Vanguard” electric guitars. The occasional earth-shattering airstrike or two can quickly turn the tide of battle as well. Edgy rocky music and matching character outfits round out the atmosphere.
In addition to RAID Mode, players can cut their teeth and earn experience in various PvP and PvE game modes — some familiar to old-school shooter fans and others more eccentric that will be rotated in every few weeks. Launch game modes additionally include Team Deathmatch and Free-4-All. RockShot’s first timed special event will unite players to survive an invasion of mutant experiments in Chimera-Mode.
