Star Wars Galactic Racer is officially available today, bringing a new runs-based racing adventure set in a galaxy far, far away to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Amazon Luna.
Developed by Fuse Games and published by Secret Mode in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, the game puts players behind the controls of several iconic types of Star Wars vehicles while competing in the underground Galactic League, a dangerous racing circuit operating in the lawless Outer Rim.
Enter the Galactic League
The Galactic League was established by racing enthusiast Darius Pax, but its champion, Kestar Bool, has become determined to maintain his grip on the competition through whatever means necessary.
With the League’s corruption growing deeper, Pax turns to Shade, a lone racer with a personal grudge against the Bool family. Shade must enter the Galactic League, compete against its toughest racers and attempt to bring Kestar’s reign to an end.
According to Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars: Galactic Racer was created as a way to explore the racing culture that has been part of the franchise for years while giving players the opportunity to pilot some of its most recognisable vehicles.
A Runs-Based Racing Adventure
Rather than following a traditional linear racing campaign, Star Wars Galactic Racer uses a runs-based structure. Players chart their own path through the Galactic League, choosing between different events as they progress, with new challenges and unlocks appearing along the way.
The races themselves cover a range of circuits and allow players to slam, shunt and take down their rivals while piloting different types of repulsorcraft, including landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers.
Different classes of repulsorcraft have their own physics and playstyles, while customisation lets players build a vehicle that suits the way they want to race and gives them an advantage on the track.
Race, Customise and Take on Rivals
The Galactic League offers more than simply racing from start to finish. Players can take on a story-driven campaign featuring shifting alliances or compete in strategic PvP grudge matches where their reputation follows them through the competition.
Every race presents another opportunity to climb the ranks, earn rewards and take on increasingly difficult challenges. The choices players make along the way help shape their progress through the Galactic League.
As a debut title from Fuse Games, the launch also marks a significant milestone for the independent studio. Co-founder and CEO Matt Webster said the team began three and a half years ago with just a handful of people and a big idea before eventually bringing that vision to life in the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Galactic Racer is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Amazon Luna.
The game is available in Standard and Deluxe editions, both physically and digitally. The Standard Edition is priced at $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $79.99 / £64.99 / €79.99.
