The Age of Man ends here. Tempest Rising has officially unleashed its highly anticipated The Veti’s Wrath expansion, introducing the game’s long-awaited third playable faction alongside a brand-new single-player campaign.
Published by Knights Peak, the publishing label of Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms, and developed by Slipgate Ironworks, the real-time strategy game’s latest expansion is available now on Steam.
The Veti Return in The Veti’s Wrath
Set in the aftermath of the Tempest Wars, The Veti’s Wrath follows the shattered remains of the ancient Veti as they are hunted by humanity’s warring factions across a world they once ruled.
The Veti have one purpose: Reclamation.
Players must reunite the Veti’s scattered forces, recover their stolen technology and confront the corruption threatening to consume their civilisation from within.
The Veti are an ancient alien race built around technological superiority and the subjugation of their enemies. Their faction introduces a completely different approach to the battlefield, with new units, abilities and doctrines designed around domination.
Among their most distinctive abilities is the power to convert fallen soldiers into mindless Enlightened, allowing players to sacrifice them during battle to fuel machines and empower their warriors.
11-Mission Veti Campaign
The Veti’s Wrath includes a complete 11-mission single-player campaign, allowing players to experience the final chapter of Tempest Rising‘s story from the perspective of the ancient Veti.
The expansion is available now on Steam for $19.99 USD / €19.99 EUR / £17.49 GBP, with a limited-time 10% launch discount available from the standard RRP.
The Veti Are Free for All Players in Multiplayer
Players don’t need to purchase the expansion to take the Veti into battle against other players.
A free update is now available to all owners of the base game, adding the complete Veti faction to multiplayer, skirmish and custom game modes.
The faction brings an arsenal designed to demonstrate just how far ahead of humanity the Veti’s technology has become. Players can deploy devastating units including the colossal War Ender and the mysterious Phantom Artillery, while using teleportation tactics and abilities that allow units to be consumed for powerful surges of energy.
It’s another major addition to Tempest Rising for players looking to take their RTS battles online.
Tempest Rising Gold Edition Is Also Available
New players can also jump into the complete Tempest Rising experience with the new Gold Edition, celebrating the golden era of real-time strategy games.
The Gold Edition includes the original base game, both the Global Defense Force and Tempest Dynasty story campaigns, multiplayer and additional game modes, alongside The Veti’s Wrath campaign expansion.
The Gold Edition is available on Steam for an RRP of $54.99 USD / €54.99 EUR / £47.99 GBP, with a limited-time 36% launch discount reducing the price to $34.99 USD.
The original Tempest Rising base game is also currently available with a 50% discount on Steam as part of the expansion launch celebration.
A Classic RTS With a Different Timeline
Nominated for Best Sim/Strategy at The Game Awards, Tempest Rising takes players into an alternate version of 1997 where the Cuban Missile Crisis went nuclear.
The game combines classic RTS mechanics such as base building with fast-paced combat, asymmetrical factions, single-player campaigns, ranked multiplayer and skirmish gameplay.
With the arrival of the Veti, players now have another completely different faction to master, bringing new technologies, units and battlefield strategies to the conflict.
