The Esports Awards, the most prestigious night in the esports calendar, is pleased to reveal the nominations for this year’s industry categories which aim to recognise excellence in esports. Announced during the 3rd Spotlight Show of the year and hosted by Gabriella ‘Le Tigress’ Devia-Allen, Thom ‘F.’ Badinger and Adam ‘Lawler’ Thornton, this year’s nominees include the likes of League of Legends, Activision Blizzard, Nike and Scuf Gaming.
The industry category at the Esports Awards aims to honour those individuals and businesses at the centre of the industry who innovate, support and showcase. The industry section of the Esports Awards includes Esports Commercial Partner of the Year, Esports Coverage Website of the Year, Esports Game of the Year, Esports Hardware Provider of the Year, Esports Journalist of the Year, Esports Publisher of the Year and Esports Supporting Agency of the Year.

The Esports Awards has also welcomed fighting game legend Daigo Umehara as the first inductee for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Umehara has built a lasting legacy in the fighting game community with 6 EVO championships and has cemented his place as the best Street Fighter player of all time. The Lifetime Achievement Award honours individuals who have had a long lasting impact and dedicated their professional life to improving the industry. In its new format for 2020, the Esports Awards will announce recipients throughout the year, through the Esports Awards Spotlight Shows.

The Esports Awards in partnership with eFuse announced the #FortheGamers Esports Awards Fund, an initiative which aims to find the next generation of industry leaders. The Fund will award $10,000 to the applicant who showcases their potential and future impact on the esports industry. Whether it’s becoming the next biggest esports journalists or organising a collegiate tournament, the fund is all about creating an opportunity to nurture the grassroots of esports. Applications are now open through the Esports Awards website and the three finalists will be selected in October, where they will then undertake a series of interviews with current esports industry leaders and influencers.
Voting is now open for finalists in the Community, and Industry categories. Nominations are still open for the remaining On-Air and Pro categories and will close in September. For more information on how to vote and nominate head to www.esportsawards.com
