The Nordic Game 2018 conference, 23-25 May, in Malmö, Sweden, builds on the foundation established by the Nordic Game brand and the keywords “Knowledge, Emotion, Business” – but it’s also expanding and evolving in numerous ways, including:
Knowledge
Expect a world-class speaker program, with trending topics, inspiration and a range of new workshops and round-table discussions. More than 140 speakers will inform and entertain NG18 attendees in 100+ sessions over the three days, among them Siobhan Reddy (Media Molecule), Johnny Monsarrat (founder of Turbine), Tom Giardino (Steam/Valve), Jason Roberts (Gorogoa), Chris Remo (Firewatch), Tommy Francois (Ubisoft), Antonia Koop (Kite Rider), Anita Sarkeesian (Feminist Frequency), and speakers from all corners of the Nordic and global industry, including EA Dice, Microsoft, Dolby, Ubisoft Massive, Bedtime Digital Games, Dirtybit, King, Fast Travel Games, IO Interactive, Rovio, Landfall, and the list just goes on and on. The first 110 speakers have already been announced, and there’s much more to come, including new “impact” sessions and topics, with talks about serious and educational games, as well as games for change and diversity.
Emotion
As with previous editions of Nordic Game, one of the most valuable parts of the NG18 experience will be “intimacy”: the socialising, and the fun, only possible due to the incredible Nordic Game audience – consisting of game developers from all over the Nordic countries, and their peers from across Europe and around the globe. NG18 will feature loads of networking events and parties, as well as Discovery Day on Friday, 25 May, dedicated to experimental and artistic games, created in cooperation with Copenhagen Game Collective.
Business
The MeetToMatch business matchmaking system was a huge success story last May, with an incredible number of 2790 meetings held, cementing Nordic Game’s reputation as one of the world’s absolute hot-spots for games business. At NG18, this focus will also expand into the speaker program, with new, publisher-orientated business sessions as one of the new editions.
From Nordic to global
The Nordic Game conference is still very much the only annual gathering place for the entire Nordic games industry, and NG18 will be no exception. At the same time, outreach to the rest of the world will grow in 2018, with a range of new as well as returning country delegations exhibiting in the NG Expo. Also, the new Discovery Contest Finalist Expo on 23-25 May will be a great showcase to experience and meet with the best development talents from across Europe.
Become a NG18 partner!
Nordic Game would not exist without the tremendous support from our sponsors and partners. Many of them, such as Epic/Unreal 4, King, Housemarque, Dolby, Unity, Nordisk Film Games and Appodeal – to name a few – have already signed-up for NG18. But there’s always room for more! Please contact NG18 BD director Teddy Florea here for more info about the wealth of opportunities still available to put your brand in front of the entire Nordic developer community and their worldwide peers this May.
