If you’ve been single for a while and are keen to start dating again, have you thought about going online? Since socializing outlets have been closed for months, dating sites represent a safe environment for ‘mingling.’ Online dating outlets encourage members to build a rapport with flirty texts, phone calls, or even video messaging. So once you sigh up to affairdating.com platform, you will find yourself chatting back and forth with beautiful strangers. As for conversation topics while the chemistry develops, chatting about romantic action movies is always a good ice-breaker and a subject that can spill over into your first date. With that in mind, we’ve listed our top five recommendations.
Casablanca
Why not start your date with a nostalgic trip back to the glory days of vintage Hollywood? Directed by Michael Curtiz back in 1942, this is often quoted as one of the finest romantic films of all time. The setting is Casablanca in North Africa during the Second World War, at a time when that city was controlled by pro-Nazi forces. But against this fraught backdrop, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), wife of a Czech resistance fighter, meets an old-flame, nightclub owner Rick (Humphrey Bogart). This eternal story of a love triangle hasn’t lost one iota of its charm over the decades.
Some Like It Hot
Daphne (Jack Lemmon)and Geraldine (Tony Curtis) are the drag personas of male musicians who are on the run from Chicago gangsters after witnessing the bloody St Valentine’s Day massacre. Inhabiting these new identities involves Daphne having to fend off the attentions of an amorous millionaire and ageing playboy, while Geraldine frequently has to switch characters as he courts glamorous Sugar from their band (played by Marlon Monroe, oozing sex appeal with every line.) This madcap comedy offers so many dramatic situations, but will also cause you to split your sides.
Raiders of The Lost Ark
Directed by the man whose films have become synonymous with romance and adventure, Steven Spielberg, this may have been first released in the summer of 1981 but it has never lost its marvellous appeal. Harrison Ford plays Indiana Jones, an archaeologist, and adventurer who is hired by the US government to search for the fabled Ark of the Covenant. Unfortunately, dastardly Nazis are also seeking to gain control of this ancient relic to harness its supernatural powers. Almost every scene contains either an element of romance or white-knuckle adventure, making it the perfect addition to your date night.
Date Night
Phil and Claire, played by Steve Carell and Tina Fey, are a couple who have settled into a rather mundane existence in the suburbs with their kids. Attempting to add some spice to their otherwise unremarkable life together, they assume the identities of a couple who have failed to show up at a trendy restaurant, so they can grab a table. Unfortunately, the people they are ostensibly impersonating turn out to be involved in serious crimes. Events quickly unravel as the unlikely protagonists find themselves embroiled in ever-fraught situations – with extremely amusing consequences.
The Spectacular Now
To conclude your date night, how about the romantic action film that manages to combine the strong chemistry between its lead characters with a much deeper storyline about a high school senior who is battling alcoholism? Based on a novel by Tim Tharp, Sutter (Miles Teller) is a party animal who meets the introverted Amy (Shailene Woodley) after he comes to on a strange lawn after another boozy night. While Sutter has to deal with previous problems, Amy is planning for the future after leaving school. Like many excellent romantic stories, the mismatched couple eventually finds a common path through their hearts.
