SEGA Europe, The Creative Assembly and Mataboo have announced that Total War SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition is available now, bringing the acclaimed strategy game and its additional content together in an updated package designed for modern hardware.
Widely regarded as one of the standout entries in the Total War series, SHOGUN 2 combines turn-based grand strategy with large-scale real-time battles. Players must unite a divided Japan through diplomacy, espionage and conquest, leading their chosen clan through one of the country’s most turbulent periods.

Three Campaigns Cover Centuries of Japanese History
Total War: SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition brings together three standalone campaigns spanning more than 700 years of Japanese history, from the rise of the first Shogun to the fall of the Samurai.
- Total War SHOGUN 2: Set during the Sengoku Jidai, players lead their chosen clan through political manoeuvring, betrayal and warfare in a bid to unite Japan and claim the title of Shogun.
- Rise of the Samurai: Travel back to the Genpei War, beginning in 1175, and command the powerful clans whose struggles helped shape Japan’s future.
- Fall of the Samurai: Experience the Boshin War, where traditional Samurai warfare collides with industrialisation and modern military technology as Japan enters a new era.
The three campaigns offer different settings and strategic challenges, giving players the opportunity to explore several defining periods of Japanese history.
Modern Improvements for a Strategy Classic
Alongside its major expansions, faction packs and content updates, Complete Edition introduces a range of improvements intended to make SHOGUN 2 more accessible on modern systems.

Existing Owners Receive a Loyalty Discount
Players who already own the original Total War SHOGUN 2 will receive legacy DLC from the original game at no additional cost and will be eligible for a time-limited 75% loyalty discount on Complete Edition, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.

Importantly, the original Total War SHOGUN 2 will remain available and fully playable. Existing owners can continue their campaigns and retain access to their existing mods rather than being forced to move to the updated edition.
