BULKHEAD and Team17 have announced that Season 2 of WARDOGS will launch on October 15, bringing a substantial update to the tactical FPS following its successful Steam Early Access debut in September.
The new season introduces four weapons, four vehicles, three buildable structures, a new rain weather preset and an experimental in-game wagering system. Alongside the new content, players can expect significant changes to combat, faction balance, progression and other core gameplay systems.
The developers say the update builds on player feedback and gameplay data collected since launch, with further changes planned throughout Early Access.
New Weapons, Vehicles and Buildable Structures
Season 2 expands the game’s arsenal with four new weapons: the TCX-SPR Assault Rifle, M14 DMR, PP-19 Bizon SMG and Evo-3 Ultra LMG. New attachments will also provide additional options for players looking to customise their equipment.
The vehicle roster is growing too, with the Wolf-110, its armed assault variant, the T-72B3 main battle tank and the Flakpanzer Gepard anti-air vehicle joining the battlefield.
Players will also have three new buildable options at their disposal: an MG Nest, Large Shelter and Wooden Step. These additions are designed to give squads more ways to fortify positions and defend important objectives.
Rain Changes the Battlefield
A new rain weather preset introduces changing battlefield conditions that affect visibility, engagement distances and sound. Rain interacts with the environment, including damaged and destroyed structures, adding another layer to combat encounters.
Thunder is synchronised across the server and can temporarily mask the sound of footsteps. Players will need to pay attention to these environmental changes, as the weather can create opportunities to move without being heard or make it harder to detect approaching enemies.
Experimental Wager Vendor Adds Risk and Reward
One of the more unusual additions is the experimental Wager Vendor, which allows players to stake their in-game cash on their own performance.
Players can choose objectives with additional conditions to increase their potential payouts, introducing an optional risk-and-reward system into matches. However, BULKHEAD stresses that this is an early experimental feature that could be expanded, changed or even removed during the season if it proves too easy to exploit.
Combat Changes and Lonestar Faction Adjustments
Season 2 also brings a substantial combat balancing pass, with changes to weapon damage, recoil and suppression intended to establish clearer roles for different weapon classes. The full patch notes are due to be published next week.
Faction balance is another major focus. Following feedback and analysis of match data, BULKHEAD is launching a recruitment drive encouraging players to join the blue Lonestar faction, which recorded the lowest win rate during Season 1.
Changes include adjustments to uniforms and spawn positions, alongside Season 2-exclusive cash and XP bonuses for Lonestar players. Additional measures include vendor discounts for teams falling significantly behind and restrictions on switching teams late in a match.
The aim is to address the imbalance while giving players more reasons to support the struggling faction.
Further Improvements Across Early Access
Beyond the headline additions, the update includes improvements to squad coordination, vehicle handling, controller responsiveness and progression. Additional rewards for teamwork and logistics are also being introduced, alongside performance optimisations, bug fixes and server stability improvements.
Joe Brammer, CEO at BULKHEAD, said: “We’ve learned a huge amount from watching people play WARDOGS since launch. Season 2 gives players more weapons, vehicles and ways to play, but just as importantly, we’ve been working through the feedback and making changes to the systems that matter every match. Early Access is about continuing to build the game with our community, and this is the first major step in that process.”
WARDOGS Season 2 Release Date
WARDOGS Season 2 launches on October 15, 2026, on Steam. The game entered Steam Early Access on September 10 and has reportedly surpassed three million copies sold, reaching a peak of more than 425,000 concurrent players on Steam.
With new equipment, weather effects, faction adjustments and experimental systems arriving together, Season 2 represents a significant step in BULKHEAD’s ongoing development of the game. Further updates are planned throughout Early Access, with the complete Season 2 patch notes expected next week.
