XD Games has revealed the details of Torchlight Infinite Season SS14 Tartarus, introducing a new prison management mode, a fresh Hero Trait for Youga and a follower progression system. The new season begins on 15 October 2026.
SS14 Tartarus Introduces a New Prison Mode
The headline addition is the new Tartarus game mode, which challenges players to manage a prison in the Netherrealm before facing the inmates they have assembled in combat.
The mode unfolds across three phases. First, players must track down and defeat escaped prisoners to collect their nameplates. These can then be used to populate a circular prison featuring 16 available cells.
Once the prison is established, players have 20 turns to house inmates and arrange strategic fights between prisoners or against fearsome beasts, including elephants, lions, wolves and rats. These encounters help the inmates hone their skills before the final challenge begins.
After the building phase ends, the assembled roster becomes a collection of enemies and bosses for players to battle. This final combat challenge spans three prison levels and six difficulty tiers, with rewards based on the quality and quantity of enemies defeated.
New Hero Trait: Spacetime Witness Youga
SS14 Tartarus also introduces Spacetime Witness Youga, a new Hero Trait that gives the character a fresh playstyle built around maintaining a continuous spellcasting cycle.
Youga’s Clockwork Core can automatically cast Entanglement skills, while critical strikes reduce his ability cooldowns. Players can then develop their build through three distinct paths, each offering a different approach to combat.
Spacetime Dictator focuses on projectiles and time manipulation, while Spacetime Conqueror centres on movement and linked damage through Time-Rift Traversal. Meanwhile, Spacetime Dominator allows players to build up spell enhancements through Spacetime Overload.
Players can mix elements from all three paths or specialise in one, giving them greater freedom to shape Youga around their preferred combat style.
Recruit Followers and Expand Your Builds
A new progression system also arrives with SS14 Tartarus, allowing players to recruit followers from the wolf, rat, lion and elephant tribes using a resource called Letters of Introduction.
Followers provide another layer of build customisation, offering Active and Support Skills that can deliver buffs, protection and debuffs. Those who conquer higher Netherrealm difficulty tiers will unlock access to more powerful followers.
Beyond these headline additions, the season will introduce new skills, character cosmetics, Pactspirits, and audio and visual improvements. XD Games has also released a season preview covering the wider collection of changes arriving with the update.
Torchlight: Infinite SS14 Tartarus Release Date
Torchlight: Infinite is available now on PC, iOS and Android. SS14 Tartarus begins on 15 October at 7:00pm PDT / 10:00pm EDT, which is 16 October at 3:00am BST / 4:00am CEST for players in the UK and Europe.
