March 28th, 2019 is a very special date for Windstorm fans and horse lovers. On this day, the new action-adventure game Windstorm – Ari’s Arrival will be released, which is based on the successful book and feature film of the same name. The release of the title from EuroVideo Medien GmbH’s gaming label Wild River will be staggered as follows: the version for PlayStation and PC (via Steam) will come out on March 28th followed by the Nintendo Switch version on April 11th.
Released in 2017, the preceding title Windstorm – The Game captured the hearts of Windstorm and horse fans across many countries. Windstorm – Ari’s Arrival builds on this successful concept but with an expanded world and gameplay, and significantly improved graphics. During implementation, Munich-based developer Aesir Interactive paid close attention to player’s wishes and suggestions and incorporated them into development of the new title.
“We received so much positive feedback for Windstorm – The Game that not only praised the game, but also gave us so many detailed ideas for the next part. This was unbelievably motivating for us.’’ says Thomas Schneider, head of project management at Aesir Interactive. “Driven by community feedback, we invested a great deal of energy into implementing all suggestions and improvements. I am therefore certain that our fans will simply love Windstorm – Ari’s Arrival.”
Windstorm – Ari’s Arrival features the third-person perspective. The plot of the game revolves around the spirited Ari who arrives at the Kaltenbach Estate and forms a special bond with the black stallion, Windstorm. During the main storyline, which has a play time of around 10 hours, players can solve all kinds of puzzles and tasks and experience numerous adventures. Throughout the game the detailed story gradually unfolds based on the plot of the book and film, but is expanded with its own interpretation.
For Marc Wardenga, head of games at publisher, Wild River, this is one of the particular strengths of the game:
“Windstorm – Ari’s Arrival is not merely a playful version of a novel, but it expands the plot completely through its own interpretation. This is a highlight for Windstorm and horse fans,’’ Wardenga emphasizes and adds: “The impressive graphic rendering, the interactive viewpoint through the role of Ari, and freely being able to explore the world all make up a particularly intense experience. It’s just not possible to have a better riding adventure!’’
In addition to the high standard of storytelling, Windstorm – Ari’s Arrival relies on the maximum quality of graphics and sound. The game is created using Unreal Engine 4 and offers an immersive and realistic, freely accessible world that has grown so much compared to its predecessor and is packed with numerous details. The use of original music from the Windstorm movie creates a remarkably atmospheric ambiance.
