Zero Latency has opened its first VR venue (meetspaceVR) in Nottingham’s intu Victoria Center last October. Zero Latency are now bringing another world’s first, a Player vs Player VR eSports experience to the UK. Sol Raiders is launching in July at meetspaceVR’s Nottingham location.
On Thursday 23rd May, in support of the “Must Play May” campaign supported by UKie (the trade body for the video game and interactive entertainment industry) meetspaceVR are inviting press and industry professionals to give Sol Raiders a try.
Guests will be able to try the new Sol Raiders game in the Zero Latency eSports arena and also try video games made by a number of talented game design students from across the East Midlands in meetspaceVR’s new eSports lounge.
Sol Raiders Scenario: Earth is gone and the last remnant of humanity are traveling the universe in search of new worlds….and wealth. A power source unlike any other – called Sol – will make you rich if you can get it. The only problem is, everyone wants it, and to get it, you must battle for it. Pilot your combat rig, form your crew and prepare yourself for blistering, team-based combat.
In Sol Raiders, two teams of up to 4 players pit their wits and skills against each other across 3 fast paced, futuristic maps. Starting today, tickets are on sale online at https://www.zlvr.co.uk for sessions in July.
“With more than 20,000 players having already played our free-roam VR games in Nottingham, and the growing popularity of eSports, we’ve seen a huge demand from players who want to compete against each other in head to head action. With our new eSports lounge and Sol Raiders now you can,” Said John Lilley, CEO of meetspaceVR.
“If you thought our zombie experiences were fun, just wait until you have a chance to pit your gaming skills against your family and friends! Every game is different and every game is exhilarating! The large open spaces in our VR and eSports arenas gives us more flexibility to develop social experiences for groups. Players at meetspaceVR are not “battery farmed” into tight spaces, booths or cubicles. We have designed our entire venue to be sociable, open and inclusive.” says John Lilley, CEO.
During July meetspaceVR will also be hosting the UK’s first Team vs Team, free-roam VR eSports tournament. Over 50 teams will be competing to take the crown in this first of its kind tournament in the UK.
“This is not your usual VR experience! We have made our trademark social VR experience even more exciting, accessible and unique every time you play. This is not just for gamers it is for everyone; adrenaline seekers, corporate events and especially families and friends looking to have fun together. Get your team ready for our most ambitious and fun title yet,” says Lilley.
“It’s not your usual VR experience”
Zero Latency offers a unique gameplay and a whole new gaming experience. Equipped with VR headsets, headphones, military-styled backpacks and a gun, players move freely in an empty warehouse, but see virtually generated worlds in which the games take place. Sol Raiders takes that to the next level with an eSports Player vs Player approach.
“This concept is so exhilarating. You are in there with your team and pitted against another. Communications, speed of thought and hand eye co-ordination add up to winning the prize or looking back and working out how to get better next time! eSports now has a calorie count! It gets the heart pounding and muscles working.” says Lilley.
“eSports now has a calorie count!”.
meetspaceVR supports players, parents and carers in understanding the games their families and friends play. It can be a struggle for families to keep up with the industry’s pace of change. meetspaceVR will be promoting UKie’s web site www.askaboutgames.co.uk a resource that helps families understand age ratings, parental controls and the future trends that will impact them in the future.
The Nottingham Arena (MeetspaceVR, Intu Victoria Center, Nottingham, NG1 3QN) has opened bookings for Sol Raiders in July.
