A team of robot controlled characters is hotly-tipped at 7/25 with Betway to triumph over a human team in Dota 2 esports exhibition game which will be streamed live on Twitch.
Robot team, run by OpenAI – which was founded by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk among others, can gain up to 180 years of game experience per day in an accelerated training setup and the online bookmaker expects the bots to overcome their human rivals with relative ease.
A benefit for the human side, is in a team environment such as a 5 versus 5 match, communication is important. The robot team, despite being aware of every action on the board and having much quicker reaction times, will be unable to communicate, giving humans the advantage of prior knowledge and unpredictability.
Betway’s Alan Alger said: “We are extremely excited to see the big clash between robots and humans as openAI – the bot – finally takes on the world’s best gamers in a team match at Dota 2.
“AI has previously crushed the hopes of many gamers in 1v1 games, but a 5v5 on Dota 2, an extremely complex strategy and battle game, will provide a true test of the bot’s real understanding of the intricacies of the game.
“Despite that, beating the bot is going to take a ground-breaking effort and we make AI the heavy odds-on favourite to prevail at 7/25”.
