KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS and 505 Games have officially announced that Death Stranding Directors Cut, the definitive version of Hideo Kojima’s genre-defying epic, is now available on Xbox Game Pass across both PC and console.
The game is accessible exclusively to subscribers on the Xbox Game Pass Premium and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tiers, bringing one of the most talked-about modern gaming experiences to an even wider audience.
Reconnect a Broken World
In Death Stranding Director’s Cut, players take on the role of Sam Bridges, tasked with reconnecting the last survivors of a devastated America. Following a cataclysmic event known as the Death Stranding, the boundary between the living and the dead has been shattered, allowing otherworldly and grotesque creatures to roam the ruined landscape.
Your mission is about more than survival. As Sam, you’ll deliver supplies, rebuild fractured connections, and slowly restore hope to a world on the brink, all while navigating hostile terrain and supernatural threats.
The Definitive Death Stranding Experience
The Director’s Cut enhances the original experience with a range of new content and gameplay improvements. A brand-new Ruined Factory location introduces a dangerous underground facility packed with fresh challenges and tense encounters.
Sam’s toolkit has also been expanded with new delivery support options, including cargo catapults, ramps, and a stabiliser equipped with thrusters. These additions help manage heavy loads, improve balance, and reduce the impact of landings when dropping from high areas.
Combat has been refined too, with expanded melee options such as a drop kick, alongside the introduction of the Maser Gun, which can stun enemies and temporarily disable vehicles using electricity.
New Ways to Play and Compete
The Director’s Cut also adds a new firing range, allowing players to experiment with weapons and fine-tune their loadouts. For those looking for something different, the new Racetrack lets players compete in time-attack races against others online, offering a welcome change of pace from delivery routes and exploration.
Traversal has been made even more flexible thanks to Buddy Bots, which Sam can ride to cross the wastelands with greater ease and efficiency.
A Star-Studded Cast
Death Stranding Director’s Cut features performances from a standout cast, led by Norman Reedus as Sam Bridges. He’s joined by Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, and Lindsay Wagner, helping bring Kojima’s unique vision to life through powerful performances.
Optimised for Handheld Play
The Xbox version has also recently received an update optimised for handheld devices. This means players using ASUS ROG Xbox Ally hardware can now experience Death Stranding Director’s Cut on the go, without compromising performance.
Death Stranding Directors Cut is also available for purchase directly through the Xbox Games Store. More details about Xbox Game Pass can be found via Xbox’s official channels.
