Blades of Fire Version 2.0 brings a powerful new Photo Mode and weekly feature series ahead of its May 14 release across all platforms.
MercurySteam and 505 Games have kicked off a brand-new weekly video series focused on Blades of Fire – Version 2.0, as the game prepares for its upcoming release on Steam PC on May 14.
The series is set to highlight the key features arriving with the 2.0 update, giving players a closer look at what’s coming before launch. And to start things off, the first episode puts the spotlight on one of the simplest—but most impactful—additions to the game: Photo Mode.
Blades of Fire Version 2.0 Update Trailer
Photo Mode Takes Centre Stage
With Version 2.0, Blades of Fire introduces a fully featured Photo Mode designed to give players complete creative control when capturing moments from their journey.
Once activated, Photo Mode allows players to move freely around their character, adjusting position, angle, height, and field of view. Additional controls such as camera roll and optional grid framing make it easier to line up the perfect shot.
Depth of field can also be fine-tuned, giving players the ability to shift focus, blur backgrounds or foreground elements, and highlight exactly what they want in each scene.
For those who want even more control, advanced colour tools are included. Players can tweak exposure, contrast, and saturation, as well as adjust individual red, green, and blue channels. Whether it’s subtle colour correction or more stylised visuals, the tools are there to experiment with.
On top of that, a full suite of visual effects is available, allowing for more cinematic captures directly within the game.
Capture the Action as It Happens
One of the standout aspects of this new Photo Mode is its flexibility. It’s not limited to standard gameplay moments—players can also use it during most cutscenes, making it possible to capture key story scenes as they unfold.
From intense combat encounters to atmospheric environments and close-up character shots, the system is built to support a wide range of creative possibilities throughout the entire experience.
Try It Now Ahead of Launch
Players don’t have to wait until launch to try out these new features. A playable demo of Blades of Fire is already available on Steam, giving early access to the new Photo Mode alongside other Version 2.0 updates.
The full Version 2.0 update will officially launch on May 14 for Steam PC, with the update also arriving as a free release across other platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox, Epic Games Store, and PC.
With more episodes of the weekly series on the way, players can expect additional feature deep-dives in the lead-up to release.
Final Thoughts
While Photo Mode might seem like a simple addition on the surface, the level of control offered in Blades of Fire – Version 2.0 makes it a meaningful upgrade for players who enjoy capturing their in-game moments.
As the first look at what Version 2.0 brings, it sets the tone for what’s to come—and with more feature spotlights on the way, there’s clearly more still to be revealed before launch.
