Jagex has released one of Old School RuneScape‘s most community-driven updates to date with the arrival of Wyrmscraig, a brand-new island created from a player concept that won the game’s Player-Designed Island Competition.
Designed by OSRS player and creator ScreteMonge, also known as Gnome, the island was selected from more than 1,000 community submissions earlier this year. Now fully realised in-game, Wyrmscraig introduces an entirely new region filled with quests, high-level combat, skilling activities and rewards for adventurous players.
Welcome to Wyrmscraig
Hidden far across the south-western seas of Gielinor, Wyrmscraig is a rugged island dominated by towering mountains, dangerous wildlife and unforgiving terrain.
Known locally as Cuil An Domainh, the island is home to the isolated village of Auchrie, where a resilient community has survived despite the harsh environment. Suspicious of outsiders, the villagers reluctantly welcome travellers who brave the perilous journey to their shores.
Exploring the island reveals a wealth of new content designed for experienced adventurers looking for fresh challenges.
Embark on the New Quest: Fallen From Grace
Your journey across Wyrmscraig begins with the new quest Fallen From Grace.
As players investigate the mysterious history of Auchrie, they uncover the tragic story of the island’s legendary guardian known only as The Mad Angel.
What was once believed to be nothing more than local folklore soon becomes a dangerous reality, leading adventurers to climb the sacred steps of Ardeaglais in search of answers.
Challenge The Mad Angel
Completing Fallen From Grace unlocks access to a brand-new repeatable boss encounter.
The Mad Angel offers players a challenging battle with valuable rewards, including the powerful new weapon:
- Hallowfell
The repeatable encounter gives combat-focused players another endgame activity to master while earning unique loot.
Meet Mortimer, the New Slayer Master
Wyrmscraig also introduces a new high-level Slayer Master named Mortimer.
Unlike traditional Slayer Masters, Mortimer gives players greater control over their assignments by offering multiple task choices instead of a single objective.
Key features include:
- Available after progressing through Fallen From Grace.
- Requires 100 Combat and 70 Slayer (or 99 Slayer for full access).
- Choose between two Slayer assignments, with a third unlockable over time.
- Powerful task modifiers that increase rewards or add special bonuses.
- More expensive task skips in exchange for greater flexibility.
The new system provides experienced Slayer players with additional strategic choices while rewarding long-term progression.
Craft Helpful Golems
Players who complete Fallen From Grace can also unlock a brand-new Crafting activity.
Golem Crafting serves as an alternative training method, allowing players to:
- Mine valuable sunstone.
- Sculpt stone golems.
- Dress and customise their creations.
- Earn Crafting experience throughout the process.
The activity provides a fresh alternative to traditional glassblowing while fitting naturally into the island’s lore.
Goat Hunting Arrives as a New Hunter Activity
Hunters also receive a brand-new training method through Goat Hunting.
Rather than tracking creatures across the wilderness, players must carefully herd the island’s overpopulated goats into spike-filled pits using specially placed traps.
Successful hunts reward:
- Hunter experience.
- Additional XP for processing captured goats.
- The exclusive hunter pet Mr McGroot.
The activity offers another engaging way for players to train Hunter while chasing a unique cosmetic companion.
A Community Creation Brought to Life
Wyrmscraig stands as one of the clearest examples of Jagex’s ongoing commitment to involving its community in the development of Old School RuneScape.
Transforming a player-created concept into a fully explorable region complete with quests, bosses, skilling activities and rewards demonstrates how community feedback continues to shape the future of the game.
A Worthwhile Journey Across the Unquiet Ocean
With a compelling new storyline, repeatable boss encounters, an innovative Slayer Master, fresh skilling methods and plenty of rewards to discover, Wyrmscraig offers something for almost every type of Old School RuneScape player.
Whether you’re hunting rare loot from The Mad Angel, training new skills, or simply exploring another corner of Gielinor, the player-designed island delivers one of the game’s most substantial updates of the year.
