HYPERTUNE, a COMPREADY company, has officially launched its gaming performance engineering platform, designed to make PC performance tuning more accessible to gamers using supported Intel-based systems.
Built using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) SDK, HYPERTUNE aims to automate much of the process traditionally associated with manual overclocking, BIOS configuration and stability testing.
The platform has now moved beyond its extended early-access period, which included an eight-month open beta involving more than 60,000 participants, ranging from first-time PC gamers to competitive esports players.
Automated Performance Tuning Without Manual Overclocking
Traditional PC overclocking can involve extensive BIOS configuration, processor tuning and repeated stability testing. HYPERTUNE is designed to simplify that process by using software to analyse a supported system and recommend system-specific optimisations.
The company says its platform can target areas including frame rates, latency and overall system responsiveness, while removing much of the technical knowledge normally required to tune a gaming PC.
Rather than applying a single generic performance profile to every machine, HYPERTUNE uses what it calls a validation-first approach.
System-Specific Validation
According to HYPERTUNE, every supported gaming PC is evaluated individually before an optimisation is applied.
The system monitors the hardware and determines whether a proposed configuration can be safely supported. If an optimisation isn’t considered suitable for a particular PC, the software will instead report that the system is unsupported.
HYPERTUNE also says that all optimisations are fully reversible, do not require modifications to Windows and operate through Intel’s supported system-level controls.
Performance Gains of Up to 60% Claimed
In its internal testing, HYPERTUNE reports that the platform has achieved FPS improvements of up to 60% across supported hardware configurations and gaming workloads.
However, the company stresses that actual results will vary depending on factors including the processor generation, CPU, GPU and memory configuration, as well as the overall design of the system and the workload being run.
That means the headline 60% figure shouldn’t be interpreted as a guaranteed performance increase for every Intel gaming PC.
From Esports Engineering to Consumer PCs
The technology behind HYPERTUNE has its roots in competitive esports. Before founding the company, HYPERTUNE founder and CEO Austin Copeland led three teams within TSM’s VALORANT programme.
The team subsequently worked on optimising more than 10,000 gaming systems, with the experience highlighting how much performance can potentially remain untapped in modern PC hardware.
HYPERTUNE was created to bring that hardware optimisation experience into software that can be used by everyday gamers rather than requiring users to become experienced overclockers themselves.
Working With SkatterBencher
HYPERTUNE’s development has also involved collaboration with professional overclocker Pieter Plaisier, better known as SkatterBencher.
Plaisier is known for his work analysing and tuning PC hardware, and his experience has been used to help refine HYPERTUNE’s approach to performance optimisation and stability.
HYPERTUNE says the collaboration is intended to help translate years of hardware tuning experience into an automated system capable of delivering repeatable optimisations.
Built Using Intel’s XTU SDK
The platform is built directly on the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility SDK, providing HYPERTUNE with access to Intel’s supported performance-tuning framework.
Intel has worked with COMPREADY during the development of the platform, with Dan Ragland, Senior Principal Engineer at Intel, highlighting the goal of making performance tuning more accessible to PC gamers.
The approach could be particularly relevant as gaming hardware becomes increasingly expensive, with players choosing to keep their existing systems for longer rather than replacing components or entire PCs every few years.
HYPERTUNE Availability and Pricing
HYPERTUNE is available now for supported Intel-based gaming PCs.
The company is positioning the platform as a way for gamers to get more performance from their existing hardware without having to manually navigate the complexities of traditional overclocking.
With more than 60,000 people having participated in its open beta, the public release marks the next stage for HYPERTUNE as it attempts to make automated PC performance tuning a more mainstream part of gaming PC ownership.
