ARTE France and developer Flying Oak Games have released the first Steam demo for Knuckle Paradise, a hand-drawn, pixel art beat ’em up inspired by classic 1990s action comedies.
The Next Fest demo is available now, giving players the chance to experience a full chapter of the game through to its first boss, alongside several side quests.
Fight Your Way Through the Tournament
Knuckle Paradise follows Jane, a kidnapped fighter forced to compete in a brutal underground tournament held inside a sprawling abandoned amusement park. Fortunately, she is not completely alone, as a combat-ready chicken joins her fight for survival.
Players will battle their way through chaotic encounters, eccentric opponents and increasingly ridiculous set pieces as Jane attempts to survive the tournament.
The combat takes inspiration from games including Bayonetta, Devil May Cry and Death’s Door, combining fluid movement, aerial combos and expressive attacks with responsive controls.
More Than Just Punching
Outside of the main fights, players can explore a colourful world filled with hidden upgrades, unlockable abilities and a range of side activities. These include stealth sections and high-speed chases through unusual locations such as neon nightclubs and mirror mazes.
The game aims to balance its exaggerated action and comedy with a more heartfelt story exploring themes of fairness, inclusion and resilience.
Alongside its combat encounters and larger-than-life boss battles, the world offers plenty of opportunities for exploration and side activities, giving players more to discover beyond the tournament itself.
The Knuckle Paradise demo is available now on Steam as part of Next Fest.
