Ghost Ship Publishing and developer Funday Games have announced that Knockout, the second expansion for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, will launch on November 17 for Xbox and PC via Steam. Versions for mobile, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch are planned to follow.
The paid expansion brings a new playable dwarf, a dangerous biome and a challenging boss encounter, giving miners even more ways to smash bugs and extract valuable resources from the depths of Hoxxes IV.
Meet the Brawler
Management wants higher productivity, and apparently the answer is to send in a dwarf with a pair of solid metal fists. The new Brawler is built around brutal melee combat, using his powerful punches to pulverise enemies and break through cave walls in pursuit of valuable minerals.
Armed with rock-smashing skills and an impressive mohawk, this heavy-handed mining specialist offers a fresh approach to surviving the relentless bug-filled caverns. When efficiency means hitting something until it stops moving, the Brawler is ready for the job.
Survive the Sandblasted Corridors
Knockout also introduces the Sandblasted Corridors, a dry and hostile new biome that presents miners with another environment to conquer. The area features swirling sand-filled tornadoes and a collection of new dangers, making survival and resource gathering even more challenging.
The Brawler’s close-combat abilities should make for an interesting fit in this unforgiving landscape, where getting too comfortable could prove costly.
Take on the Dreadnought Empress
For those looking for an even bigger challenge, the expansion adds the high-risk Brood Harvest mission. This encounter pits players against the Dreadnought Empress, an insectoid matriarch capable of spawning sacrificial offspring to create a biological shield around herself.
Players will need to deal with her brood while finding an opportunity to reach the boss herself. With the Empress protected by her offspring, charging in without a plan could quickly turn a mining expedition into a rather short career.
More Mining Mayhem on the Way
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has sold more than two million copies since entering Early Access, with its survival-focused gameplay also reaching mobile devices, Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
Knockout is the game’s second major DLC following the launch of version 1.0, bringing another playable class, a new biome and a demanding boss mission to the mining operation.
