Square Enix has partnered with Great British Bake-Off finalist Kim-Joy to recreate a spectacularly baked Balan’s top-hat from BALAN WONDERWORLD.
Tasked with bringing the magical character to life, Kim-Joy utilised an array of colourful designs to replicate the enigmatic maestro Balan’s iconic top-hat complete with a mischievous wink.
Kim-Joy’s wonderous, Wonderworld cake is comprised of several cakes stacked up high and coated in a generous Italian meringue buttercream. Carved into the shape of Balan’s top-hat and covered in a crumb coat, the exterior of the cake is wrapped in a layer of fondant with a curved brim at the base.
The finishing decorations include an edible red ribbon of fondant and a deliciously decorated wink to really bring the musical maestro to life.
“It was a real pleasure working with Square Enix to recreate their character’s top-hat from Balan Wonderworld,” said Kim-Joy, two times bestselling baking author. “The game’s colourful characters, vivid world and extensive range of costumes offered me endless cake possibilities. Balan’s top-hat wasn’t the easiest baking process but I’m very pleased with the final cake!”
