Crimson Desert has received a substantial new update with Patch 1.09.00 now rolling out across all major platforms. The latest patch introduces long-requested controller remapping options, a huge batch of new collectable pets, gameplay refinements, combat balancing, and a long list of bug fixes aimed at improving stability and immersion throughout the game.
The update is already available on Steam for PC and Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store, while the Mac App Store version is still in progress.
Controller Remapping Finally Arrives
One of the biggest additions in Crimson Desert Patch 1.09.00 is full controller remapping support. Players can now customise button layouts to better suit their playstyle, something the community has been requesting since launch. This should make combat and exploration feel far more comfortable for players using different controller setups.
The patch also expands gameplay variety with approximately 30 new species of small animals that can now be registered as pets. These new companions add more life to the world while also giving players additional collection goals to chase.
To make pets feel more interactive, new animations have also been added for picking up and placing down certain creatures.
New Combat Skills for Oongka and Damiane
Combat has also been expanded with brand-new skills for both Oongka and Damiane. The input commands mirror Kliff’s “Blinding Flash Finisher” system, requiring players to use a heavy attack during Blinding Flash to activate the abilities.
Several combat fixes and balancing tweaks have also been implemented. Kliff’s abilities now correctly consume Spirit in situations where they previously did not, while Oongka’s “Quaking Fury” has received stagger adjustments for improved balance.
Farming and Gameplay Improvements
Patch 1.09.00 makes farming considerably smoother by allowing seeds to be assigned directly to quickslots. This quality-of-life change should make managing crops far less tedious during longer gameplay sessions.
The update also resolves several frustrating gameplay bugs, including issues involving Pond Management mode, broken tool interactions, safe zone farming restrictions, and unresponsive controls after certain death scenarios.
Additional fixes address problems involving legendary fish donations, incomplete challenge tracking, and AI behaviour involving bears attempting to eat dropped fish.
UI and Interface Enhancements
The user interface has received multiple improvements designed to streamline gameplay. Dispatch menus now prioritise companions with the required mission skills, while repeated missions are now clearly labelled in the UI.
Keyboard and mouse users will also notice improvements, including the cursor automatically disappearing when examining documents. Several interface freezes and incorrect UI display bugs have also been resolved.
Graphics, Performance and Stability Fixes
PC and Mac players both benefit from fixes related to ray-traced lighting shadows, with developers addressing rendering issues and settings not applying correctly on some systems.
Performance stability has also been improved through fixes targeting crashes, animation glitches, audio issues, and equipment rendering problems. Several awkward animation transitions have been cleaned up, especially during movement, combat, swimming, and corpse interactions.
One particularly important fix resolves an issue where repeated elemental attacks against sanctum cores could stack effects and cause major performance drops for Damiane players.
Localization and Audio Improvements
The development team has also carried out another localisation pass, improving translation quality and fixing text errors across all supported languages.
Audio fixes are included as well, resolving missing sound effects during cooking and unintended voice playback when examining books and bounty notices while using English voice settings.
A Strong Quality-of-Life Update for Crimson Desert
While Crimson Desert Patch 1.09.00 may not introduce a massive new expansion, it delivers a meaningful set of improvements that should make Crimson Desert feel smoother and more polished across nearly every part of the experience.
Between controller remapping, expanded pet systems, farming improvements, combat balancing, and extensive bug fixing, this update shows the developers continuing to focus heavily on player feedback and long-term refinement.
For players already exploring the world of Crimson Desert, this is easily one of the most important quality-of-life updates the game has received so far.
