PikPok has announced that Into the Dead Our Darkest Days will officially leave Early Access and launch as a full Version 1.0 release in March 2027.
The survival game will launch on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and GeForce NOW, giving players across multiple platforms the opportunity to experience PikPok’s bleak take on the zombie survival genre.
Alongside the announcement, PikPok has released an all-new Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days 1.0 Hard Launch Announcement Trailer, offering a fresh look at the game’s survival systems, expanded gameplay and the difficult choices players will face when the full release arrives.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Gets Its 1.0 Release
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days has spent its time in Early Access evolving through player feedback and ongoing updates, with PikPok using community input to expand its survival systems, refine the gameplay experience and introduce additional content.
The upcoming Version 1.0 release represents the next major milestone for the game, bringing these improvements together for what PikPok describes as the most complete version of the experience yet.
Rather than simply throwing players into a world filled with zombies and asking them to survive through combat, Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days places resource management, shelter building, relationships and difficult moral decisions at the centre of its gameplay.
Survive the Outbreak in 1980s Texas
Set in an unforgiving version of 1980s Texas, players will need to guide a fragile group of survivors through a city overrun by the infected.
Resources are limited, meaning players will need to carefully scavenge for supplies while building and managing shelters capable of keeping their survivors alive.
However, staying alive isn’t simply about finding food and avoiding the infected. Players will also have to make difficult moral choices, with decisions potentially affecting the relationships between survivors and their chances of making it out of the city.
Every Decision Has Consequences
One of the most interesting aspects of Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is its focus on the human side of survival.
Players will need to maintain hope, trust and the will to survive within their group while dealing with the constant threat outside their shelter.
With resources becoming increasingly scarce, players could find themselves having to make decisions where there is no obvious right answer. Who gets the supplies? Who can be trusted? And how far are you willing to go to keep your survivors alive?
These choices are intended to make each playthrough feel like its own survival story, rather than simply turning the game into another zombie-focused action experience.
New 1.0 Trailer Showcases the Survival Experience
The new 1.0 Hard Launch Announcement Trailer provides another look at the game ahead of its full launch, highlighting its survival mechanics, expanded gameplay systems and the dangers awaiting players across the infected city.
For players who have followed the game throughout Early Access, the Version 1.0 release will bring together the changes and improvements made throughout development.
For newcomers, the March 2027 launch will provide an opportunity to jump into the complete experience without having to follow the game’s Early Access development.
PikPok Credits Its Early Access Community
Mario Wynands, CEO at PikPok, described the Version 1.0 announcement as a major milestone for the development team, while highlighting the contribution of the game’s Early Access community.
Player feedback has helped PikPok shape and improve Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days throughout its development, with the studio stating that the community has helped drive the game towards an experience beyond what the team originally envisioned.
The developer is now preparing to welcome both returning survivors and new players when the full game launches in March 2027.
