Newly released data has found the TOP played games by numbers of hours users are playing per week. Complied by gaming company, Online Casinos, you can find the TOP 10 most played games by the average number of hours spent being played by consumers.
Searches for popular video games are up by 160% in the UK according to search data found by Online Casinos, with more people indoors wanting to find ways to entertain themselves many have turned to gaming.
Below are the top 10 favourite video games people are obsessed with (including the most expensive to have ever been made);
10. World of Warcraft
Coming in at 10, World of Warcraft, the PC game was found to be one of the most popular games people are playing during lockdown, with gamers playing it on average 8 hours a week.
9. FIFA 20
A classic and well-loved games series, FIFA 20 came in at 9 with people spending an average of 8.87 hours a week spent playing the game during lockdown. Interestingly in the UK alone, it was the highest selling game making over £1.5 million in sales last year.
8. Minecraft
Minecraft makes it into the league, pushing passed the loved FIFA games with 9.85 hours a week spent on average spent playing by gamers. Interestingly only in 2019 did the game become cross-playable on both the Xbox and the PS4, so people can now play each other on different consoles.
7. Dota 2
With more than the average time spent at work, Dota 2 comes in 7th as people spend around 12.6 hours a week playing this game. Google also found that this popular game was rated and liked by 82% of their gaming demographic.
6. Grand Theft Auto V
Edgying towards a full day, Grand Theft Auto is nearing the top with 6th place as people spend around 20.2 hours a week playing this game. Fun fact, it is also the most expensive video game to have ever been created!
5. Counter Strike – Global Offensive
In April, it was found 27% more people were playing this game due to lock down2. With an 8/10 on IGN.com and 94% of google gaming users saying they like the video game, it comes in at 5th place with people spend around 22.3 hours a week playing it.
4. Call of Duty: Morden Warfare
The call of duty series comes in at 4th place with people spending around 22.8 hours a week playing any of their games. There was also a 45% increase of users in April 2020 for Modern Warfare 22.
3. Fortnite
This game as been given a glowing recommendation by apple users with app store giving it a 4.6/5 for its reviews. People have been spending on average 26.4 hours a week playing this game, more than a hole day dedicated to gaming!
2. League of Legends
Coming in at 2nd place is the strategy-action game with people spending a crazy, 30.3 hours a week playing this game alone. The game is actually FREE to play online, and the most popular free to play game. The hours spent on this are a testament to the ‘addictive’ quality of this game to people, especially whilst they stay at home during lockdown.
1. Valorant
Coming in at 1st place, as the most played game in May 2020 so far is Valorant. Newly released this month, the game is free-to-play online, and May figures so far show people are spending an average of 49.1 hours a week (almost 2 out of 7 days) playing this game. We wonder if the long hours will keep up once the game runs past its novelty phase?

And finally, the war between Xbox or PS4?
Well monthly search data conducted by Online Casinos found that ‘Xbox’ had around 263,000 searches on Google per month in the UK, whereas the PS4 had 250,000 search per month in comparison. A close call but looks like people are learning more towards to Xbox.
