God of War Laufey Takes Centre Stage
The standout reveal of the event was undoubtedly , a brand-new chapter from Santa Monica Studio that shifts the spotlight away from Kratos and onto his wife, Faye.
The extended gameplay presentation showcased a surprisingly ambitious adventure that explores Faye’s journey through the afterlife. Along the way she appears to encounter gods and mythological figures from multiple cultures, many of whom are less than pleased by her presence.
Veteran actress Deborah Ann Woll returns to portray Faye, while the game’s blend of emotional storytelling, brutal combat, and strange humour was highlighted by the appearance of an unusual companion – a talking gelatinous cube voiced by Jack Quaid.
If the gameplay shown is any indication, Sony may have another blockbuster on its hands.
Marvel’s Wolverine Looks Brutal and Uncompromising
Opening the show was a new gameplay demonstration for Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games.
Unlike the studio’s colourful Spider-Man series, Wolverine embraces a much darker and more violent tone. Logan’s razor-sharp claws were on full display as the gameplay showcased brutal combat encounters, cinematic storytelling, and a more focused action-adventure experience.
The trailer also offered a glimpse of Jean Grey, further teasing connections to the wider X-Men universe.
After years of anticipation, Marvel’s Wolverine is rapidly becoming one of PlayStation’s most exciting upcoming exclusives.
Until Dawn 2 Emerges from the Shadows
One of the biggest surprises of the evening came from Firesprite, which revealed Until Dawn 2.
The sequel moves away from snowy mountains and into a tropical island setting where a team of paranormal investigators quickly discover that they may have become the hunted.
Featuring a mysterious slasher-style killer and the series’ trademark tension-filled atmosphere, Until Dawn 2 is targeting a 2027 release and looks set to continue the franchise’s legacy of player-driven horror storytelling.
Tomb Raider Returns with Legacy of Atlantis
Lara Croft is making her return in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a modern reimagining of her original adventure.
The latest trailer showcased beautifully updated visuals, smoother movement, and significantly modernised controls. Long-time fans will appreciate the faithful recreation of iconic locations, while newcomers should find the gameplay far more approachable than the original release.
Crystal Dynamics confirmed a February 12, 2027 launch date.
Rayman Makes an Unexpected Comeback
Few expected to see Rayman return during the presentation, but Ubisoft officially unveiled Rayman Legends Retold.
The beloved platforming classic is receiving a fresh overhaul, bringing updated visuals and enhanced gameplay while preserving the charm that made the original one of the genre’s most celebrated entries.
For platforming fans, this was one of the evening’s most welcome announcements.
Kemuri Continues to Impress
Created by Unseen, the studio founded by industry veteran Ikumi Nakamura, Kemuri received its first substantial gameplay reveal.
The stylish co-operative action title blends supernatural combat with Yokai hunting and eye-catching visual design. Scheduled for release in 2027, Kemuri continues to establish itself as one of the most intriguing new IPs currently in development.
September 2026 Is Becoming Crowded
If there was one trend throughout the showcase, it was just how many major games are launching in September.
Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Dune: Awakening, and Phantom Blade Zero all received release windows or launch dates around the same period.
Control Resonant arrives on September 24, while Silent Hill: Townfall launches the same day. Dune: Awakening follows closely on September 22, and Phantom Blade Zero remains on track for its highly anticipated September debut.
