Razer has announced the Razer Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics Edition, a new wired gaming headset that adds physical haptic feedback to supported games and in-game audio.
Powered by Razer Sensa HD Haptics, the headset is designed to let players physically feel events happening during gameplay rather than experiencing them solely through sound and visuals. The technology is supported across more than 100 PC games, with feedback responding to factors including the intensity, duration and position of sounds and gameplay events.
Feel Explosions, Weapons and Footsteps
Unlike traditional rumble systems, Razer’s Sensa HD Haptics technology is designed to provide different levels and types of tactile feedback depending on what is happening in-game.
A distant explosion can therefore produce a different sensation to a nearby blast, while smaller audio cues such as footsteps can generate their own feedback. In supported games, developers can also directly author haptic effects for weapons, abilities and movement.
The headset features two approaches to haptic feedback. Dynamic Haptics uses effects created specifically for games that support Sensa HD Haptics, while Audio-to-Haptics can add additional feedback based on game audio using Razer-tuned profiles.
When both systems are being used, developer-authored effects take priority, with Audio-to-Haptics filling in additional feedback when appropriate.
TriForce 40mm Drivers and 7.1 Surround Sound
Haptics are only part of the package. The Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics Edition features Razer TriForce 40mm Drivers, using Razer’s three-part driver design to separately tune high, mid and low frequencies.
The headset also includes Advanced 7.1 Surround Sound, providing positional audio intended to help players identify where sounds are coming from during gameplay.
For voice communication, Razer has equipped the headset with a Razer HyperClear Cardioid Microphone, which is designed to prioritise the player’s voice while reducing unwanted background noise.
Designed for Longer Gaming Sessions
The headset uses FlowKnit Memory Foam Cushions, combining breathable fabric with cushioning designed for extended gaming sessions.
Razer Chroma RGB is also included, providing access to dynamic lighting effects and customisation across a claimed 16.8 million colours.
A New Way to Experience Games
The Kraken V4 X Sensa HD Haptics Edition combines wired audio, positional sound, voice communication and RGB lighting with Razer’s Sensa HD Haptics technology.
With support for more than 100 PC games, the headset is aimed at players who want their gaming audio to become a more physical part of the experience, with everything from major explosions to smaller environmental sounds capable of producing tactile feedback.
