A Huge Launch for the Subnautica Sequel
The original Subnautica became a phenomenon within the survival genre, and anticipation for the sequel has clearly exploded ahead of launch.
Developed by Unknown Worlds, the studio founded by Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, the Subnautica series has now sold more than 18.5 million copies worldwide.
The sequel introduces players to a brand-new alien world packed with mysterious ecosystems, terrifying creatures, and deep underwater exploration.
Built in Unreal Engine 5
Subnautica 2 features enhanced visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, significantly upgrading the series’ atmosphere, lighting, environmental detail and immersion.
The new planet introduces completely fresh biomes and ecosystems for players to explore as they attempt to survive the dangers hidden beneath the ocean surface.
Optional Co-Op Finally Arrives
For the first time in franchise history, Subnautica 2 introduces optional multiplayer co-op support.
Players can now team up with up to four players to build, survive and explore together, while solo play remains fully supported for those who prefer the original isolated survival experience.

The cinematic trailer released on April 30 has already surpassed 10 million cumulative views, while the gameplay trailer released on May 9 has generated more than 5 million views so far.
Developers Promise Community-Driven Early Access
Fernando Melo, Executive Producer of Subnautica 2, stated that player feedback will remain central throughout development:
