The Sims 4 has officially announced two major initiatives set to reshape how players access and experience custom content: The Sims 4 Marketplace and The Sims Maker Program.
For the first time ever, console players will be able to access official custom content directly in-game, marking a huge shift for the long-running life sim. The new Marketplace aims to celebrate custom content creators while bringing curated, officially supported creations straight into The Sims 4 ecosystem.

The Sims 4 Marketplace Launch Details
The Sims 4 Marketplace launches first on PC and Mac on March 17, 2026, with PlayStation and Xbox versions rolling out in the months that follow.
The Marketplace is described as a brand-new in-game destination where players can:
- Discover and purchase official Maker Packs
- Browse Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits created by The Sims team
- Play with curated custom content directly within the game
This integration brings official custom content into the same ecosystem as core DLC, removing the need for third-party downloads and making access far simpler — especially for console users who previously had no access to traditional PC mod distribution platforms.
The Sims Maker Program Explained
Alongside the Marketplace, The Sims team has introduced The Sims Maker Program, a new initiative designed specifically for creators who specialise in custom content.
The program allows approved creators to publish content officially through the in-game Marketplace. For the first time, creators will be able to:
- Package their content as official Maker Packs
- Set pricing structures themselves
- Earn revenue directly through the in-game system
- Distribute their work across PC, Mac, PlayStation and Xbox
This move effectively bridges the gap between community-made custom content and official downloadable content, giving creators a direct pathway to monetisation while expanding access to players globally.
Applications for The Sims Maker Program open on March 5, 2026. Additional details are available in the official FAQ published on The Sims newsroom.
A Major Shift for Console Players
Perhaps the biggest headline here is console support. Historically, custom content has largely been a PC-focused experience. With the introduction of the Marketplace, PlayStation and Xbox players will finally gain access to officially supported custom creations directly inside the game.
By integrating everything within The Sims 4 itself, the team is positioning the Marketplace as a central hub for both official expansions and community-driven creations — all under one roof.
More information, including a full overview video, is available via the official Marketplace reveal.
