NC America has officially released the Dread Blade Update for its long-running MMORPG AION, now available on the PURPLE platform. The update is available across both Classic and Ascend servers and introduces a wide range of new content and improvements for players.
Headlined by the new Dread Blade class, the update also brings four new dungeons, system enhancements, and a variety of in-game rewards including gifts and coupons.

The centrepiece of the update is the introduction of the Dread Blade, described as AION’s first true hybrid class. It allows players to combine both magic and weapon-based combat, utilising the Dread Blade sword alongside a mix of abilities designed for versatility in battle.
The class features four major attack types and is built to handle a wide range of combat scenarios. It can apply status effects through physical attacks, remove debuffs from itself, and restore status using magical abilities.
In addition, the Dread Blade is capable of dealing area-of-effect damage across multiple enemies, making it effective in group encounters and battlefield control situations. It also includes a mobility-based skill that allows it to quickly engage low-health targets for fast eliminations.
New Dungeons to Conquer
The update introduces four new dungeons for players to tackle: Tiamat’s Mind, Immortal Trial, Infinite Cube, and Boundary of Light and Darkness.
These new challenges are designed to expand endgame content and offer additional variety for players across different playstyles.
System Improvements and Quality of Life Updates
Alongside new content, the Dread Blade Update includes several system enhancements aimed at improving progression and gameplay flow.
Two major enhancement changes have been introduced: removal of downgrades and a fail-safe enchant system, designed to reduce frustration and create a more consistent upgrade experience.
Limited-Time Rewards and Events
Players will also be able to access update-specific rewards, including the Dread Blade Starter Coupon and the Dread Blade Update Gift.
