ESL FACEIT Group has announced that ESL One Munich 2027 will bring 16 of the world’s top Dota 2 teams to Germany from April 4–11, 2027, with $1 million in total prize money on the line.
The tournament will take place at BMW Park in Munich, with the live arena action running from April 9–11, 2027. The event is set to be a major fixture in the ESL Pro Tour season, giving teams another important opportunity to compete at the highest level as the road to the Esports World Cup continues.
With a seven-figure prize pool and a live audience in one of Germany’s leading cities, ESL One Munich is shaping up to be a significant date for competitive Dota 2 fans.
BMW Park Set to Host ESL One
BMW Park will provide the setting for the tournament’s final three days, with ESL FACEIT Group promising an immersive spectator experience built around the venue’s interactive LED flooring and event production.
The technology is intended to bring the competition closer to the live audience, adding another visual element to the arena experience while teams battle it out on stage.
ESL FACEIT Group’s Tobias Fjellander, Senior Product Manager for Dota 2, said Munich would become part of ESL One’s long history of bringing leading teams and fans together. He also highlighted the opportunity to explore new production ideas at BMW Park while maintaining the competitive standards and live atmosphere associated with the tournament series.
The announcement follows ESL One Birmingham earlier in 2026, with organisers looking to build on that event’s momentum as the series heads to Germany.
Sixteen Teams, $1 Million in Prize Money
ESL One Munich 2027 will feature 16 top-tier Dota 2 teams competing for a total prize pool of $1,000,000. According to ESL FACEIT Group, this will be the largest prize pool in the ESL Pro Tour season.
The event is also positioned as a major midseason competition and an important stage on the route towards the Esports World Cup. With qualification opportunities and international competition at stake, the tournament should provide plenty for teams and supporters to follow throughout the week.
ESL One has built a long-standing presence in the Dota 2 scene, with international broadcasts reaching audiences across multiple languages and channels. Munich will continue that tradition, bringing the competition to a new live arena for fans in Germany and viewers around the world.
Munich Welcomes the Global Esports Community
Bavarian State Minister for Digital Affairs Dr. Fabian Mehring welcomed the announcement, highlighting the role esports plays in bringing people together through teamwork, strategy and competition. He also pointed to Bavaria’s investment in gaming, esports clubs and major events as part of its ambition to support the industry.
Dr. Christian Scharpf, Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Development for the City of Munich, also welcomed ESL One to the city. He highlighted Munich’s technology sector and BMW Park’s sporting heritage as a strong combination for hosting a major esports event.
The tournament will add another international gaming event to Munich’s calendar, offering fans the opportunity to watch some of the world’s best Dota 2 players compete in person.
