Murkoff’s experiments have found another platform to torment players on, as The Outlast Trials is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. Developer Red Barrels has launched its co-operative survival horror game on Nintendo’s latest console, bringing its disturbing experiments, psychological horror and desperate fight for survival to a new audience.
The surprise release arrives just weeks after the game recorded its highest concurrent player count to date, giving the horror title another opportunity to attract players ready to face Murkoff’s twisted trials.
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition also launches with the latest Season 7.2 Update, meaning new Reagents can jump straight into the latest content and improvements. Better still, the game supports full crossplay, allowing players on different platforms to team up rather than being separated by their choice of hardware.
Season 7.2 Brings New Events and Challenges
There is plenty waiting for players who jump into the Switch 2 version. The latest update introduces Escape the Facility, a new event in which players gather intelligence in an effort to bring Reagents closer to freedom.
The update also brings back the limited-time Geister event, featuring hallucinatory effects, additional objectives and exclusive rewards. Two new MK-Challenges are included as well, alongside further features and adjustments.
For anyone who has already been putting their Reagent through Murkoff’s increasingly unpleasant experiments, the new events offer additional reasons to return. Newcomers, meanwhile, can experience the latest content without having to wait for updates to catch up.
Survive Murkoff’s Experiments Alone or With Friends
The Outlast Trials puts players through a series of brutal experiments designed to test their endurance, sanity and willingness to follow orders. You can attempt the Trials alone or join up to three other players in online co-op, making teamwork an important part of surviving the nightmare.
Of course, having friends around does not mean things will suddenly become comfortable. Players must use stealth, hide from enemies, run when necessary and find opportunities to fight back or escape. Knowing when to keep moving and when to stay out of sight can make all the difference.
Between assignments, Reagents can customise their characters, unlock upgrades and perks, and personalise their living spaces. Players can also investigate Murkoff’s unethical experiments and gather evidence of the corporation’s abuses as they progress.
The result is a horror experience built around surviving increasingly disturbing situations, whether you prefer to face them alone or share the suffering with a group.
The Outlast Trials Price and Platforms
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Outlast Trials is available digitally now through the Nintendo eShop for $39.99 USD.
The game is also available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. At the time of the announcement, the Steam version was discounted by 70%, with the sale scheduled to end on November 2.
With crossplay support connecting players across platforms, the Switch 2 release gives Reagents another way to enter Murkoff’s nightmare without leaving their friends behind. Just remember: Murkoff has no interest in making your stay enjoyable.
