NC, formerly known as NCSOFT, is preparing to host a two-day Launch Scale Test (LST) for AION 2 on September 17 and 18, giving players an opportunity to experience a limited version of the upcoming MMORPG while helping the developer test its servers and infrastructure ahead of launch.
The Launch Scale Test will be open to everyone, with no keys, invitations or registration list required. The test will take place shortly before Founder’s Pack Early Access begins on September 30.
When Does the AION 2 Launch Scale Test Start?
The pre-download for the Launch Scale Test is available from 6:00 a.m. PT on Wednesday, September 16, until 6:00 a.m. PT on Thursday, September 17.
The actual test will then run across two separate sessions:
- Day 1: 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. PT, Thursday, September 17
- Day 2: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. PT, Friday, September 18
Progress made during Day 1 will carry over into Day 2, allowing players to continue their characters during the test. However, all progression will be wiped once Day 2 ends.
This means that nothing earned during the Launch Scale Test will carry over into Founder’s Pack Early Access or the full launch.
AION 2 LST Restrictions
The Launch Scale Test is intended to test the game’s infrastructure rather than provide the complete AION 2 experience, so several systems will be unavailable.
Players will not be able to make purchases of any kind during the test. The shop, Quna, passes, memberships and payment portals will all be disabled.
The Marketplace, Quna exchange and player-to-player trading will also be unavailable, while Founder’s Pack items cannot be accessed during the LST.
The Closet system will also be disabled, meaning players will be limited to the default outfits during the test.
There is also a level 37 maximum, which means content requiring a higher level will not be accessible during the Launch Scale Test.
What Happens After the Test?
Once the Launch Scale Test concludes, players will need to make sure they have the correct version of AION 2 installed ahead of Advanced Access.
Steam players will need to uninstall the AION 2 Playtest App and download the separate AION 2 client for Advanced Access, which begins on September 30.
PURPLE players do not need to take any additional steps.
With the Launch Scale Test opening to everyone, NC is giving players an early opportunity to try AION 2 while gathering the infrastructure data needed ahead of its upcoming Early Access period.
