Massive new update introduces wolf and bear mounts, a highly requested gear extraction system, combat improvements, visual upgrades, and hundreds of bug fixes.
Crimson Desert players have just received one of the game’s biggest updates yet, as Patch 1.06.00 officially rolls out across PC and Mac platforms. The latest update introduces entirely new gameplay systems, major combat improvements, mount customisation, visual enhancements, and an enormous list of fixes that touch almost every part of the game.
From taming wild animals and riding bears into battle to finally recovering precious refinement materials, this patch is packed with features players have been asking for since launch.
Special Mounts Finally Arrive in Crimson Desert
The headline feature of Patch 1.06.00 is the brand-new Special Mount system.
Players can now tame and ride a wide range of wild creatures throughout the world of Crimson Desert, including:
- Bears
- Wolves
- Boars
- Deer
- Mountain Goats
- Kuku Birds
- Iguanas
- Raptors
- Camels
- Lions
- Tigers
Different creatures require different taming methods. Ferocious animals must first be subdued before they can be fed and trusted, while other species feature unique taming mechanics entirely.
The update also introduces:
- A dedicated Special Mount inventory tab
- Mount equipment support
- New saddles for special mounts
- Updated mount quickslots
- Saddle merchants across multiple cities
Honestly, riding into combat on a tiger might be one of the coolest additions the game has seen so far.
New Extraction Feature Lets You Recover Upgrade Materials
Another huge addition in Patch 1.06.00 is the new Extraction system.
Players can now visit smithies to recover materials previously used to refine equipment. Instead of permanently losing rare crafting resources when changing builds or replacing gear, equipment can now be rolled back to earlier refinement levels.
Here’s how it works:
- Equipment refinement levels can be reduced
- The equipment itself is not destroyed
- Rare materials like Artifacts return at 100%
- Common resources return at roughly 70%
This is a massive quality-of-life improvement for endgame players investing heavily into gear upgrades.
Combat Gets Major Improvements
Combat also receives a significant overhaul in Patch 1.06.00.
New unarmed combat skills have been added for Oongka, with additional unarmed abilities for Damiane planned for the next update.
The patch also improves:
- Unarmed animations
- Chain attacks
- Cannon combat effects
- Airborne combat interactions
- Ranged targeting
- Boss behavior
- Counter mechanics
Several annoying skill bugs have also been fixed, including issues affecting:
- Counter Stance
- Explosive Leap
- Focused Charged Shot
- Elemental Meteor Kick
- Lightning Surge
- Focused Evasive Shot
Boss fights themselves have also been adjusted so enemies return to combat zones faster and recover stun gauges properly.
Display Sheaths and Night Tone Mode Added
Customization and visual improvements are another major focus of this patch.
Players can now toggle weapon sheaths on or off using the new Display Sheath option, while swords now feature proper sheath support.
Meanwhile, the newly added Night Tone Mode changes overall lighting and colour presentation:
- Softer overall colours
- Brighter dark areas
- Improved nighttime visibility
The update also includes:
- Better HDR support
- Improved waterfall rendering
- Fixed Photo Mode colour issues
- Resolution fixes for ultrawide displays
- Improved fullscreen behaviour
Mac players additionally receive improved HDR detection and GPU crash fixes.
Pet Dogs Can Now Fight Alongside You
A brand-new item called the Sigil of Valor has also been added.
When equipped, pet dogs will now actively attack enemies during combat.
The item can be purchased from the Secret Shop NPC in Pororin.
Because every RPG instantly becomes better with combat pets.
Inventory and Quality-of-Life Features Improved
Patch 1.06.00 introduces several highly requested convenience features, including:
- Clean All option
- Butcher All option
- Obtain All Seeds option
- Skill search function
- Better fishing UI
- Improved bookshelf placement
- Improved climbing controls
- Stackable furniture items
- Better customization menus
The quest log and stronghold systems have also been improved alongside numerous mission fixes.
Hundreds of Bug Fixes Included
Like most major updates, Patch 1.06.00 also delivers a massive number of bug fixes.
The update addresses issues involving:
- Boss AI
- Invisible characters
- Mount combat
- Quest progression
- NPC interactions
- Stronghold missions
- Rendering problems
- Audio glitches
- Frame drops
- Camera shaking
- Fishing problems
- Respawn locations
- Save loading issues
Several faction, mission, and boss-related fixes were intentionally hidden to avoid spoilers.
