Techland and Embody have announced that Immerse Gamepack is coming to Dying Light 2 Stay Human and Dying Light: The Beast, bringing personalised spatial audio to both survival horror games.
The technology will be integrated through Enhanced Headphone Mode, allowing players to experience the sounds of Villedor and Castor Woods with audio tailored to their individual ears and headphones. The aim is to make every growl, footstep and approaching threat feel more precisely positioned, adding another layer of tension to the series’ already unsettling atmosphere.
Hear the Infected Before They Find You
Sound has always played an important role in the Dying Light series, helping build suspense and alert players to danger lurking nearby. With Immerse Gamepack, Techland and Embody want to take that experience further by personalising spatial audio to each player’s hearing and headphones.
Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all audio profile, the technology is designed to create a more individual listening experience, giving sounds a greater sense of distance, direction and space.
In a game where hearing an approaching Infected can be just as important as seeing one, improved positional audio could make encounters feel more intense. A growl from behind, movement overhead or an enemy closing in should be easier to distinguish, helping players feel more connected to the world around them.
Techland and Embody Team Up on Immersive Audio
Vincent Rouilhac, Live Product Development Director at Techland, explained that the partnership grew out of the team’s own experience using Immerse technology with other games.
He said the experience made familiar game worlds sound completely different, inspiring the team to explore what personalised audio could bring to Dying Light and its distinctive horror atmosphere.
Kapil Jain, CEO of Embody, highlighted the importance of sound in horror, where the most frightening moments can come from hearing something before it appears on screen. Working with Techland’s audio team, Embody has tuned Immerse Gamepack to make the sounds of the Infected feel more realistic and accurately positioned.
Free 14-Day Trial for Both Games
Immerse Gamepack will launch soon in Dying Light 2 Stay Human and Dying Light: The Beast through Enhanced Headphone Mode.
Players will be able to try the technology free for 14 days, with full access across both games during the trial. This will give fans the opportunity to experience the personalised spatial audio for themselves before deciding whether it changes how they play.
For a series built around darkness, danger and the constant threat of the Infected, more precise audio could make a meaningful difference to the atmosphere. With Immerse Gamepack on the way, Techland is looking to make the worlds of Villedor and Castor Woods sound more convincing — and potentially even more terrifying.
