Kirby may not be the most popular game franchise of Nintendo, but the cute pink blob has been around since 1992, longer compared to other franchises including Pokémon. The main reason for these video games to go under the radar for lots of folks might come with their colourful and childish appearance. After that, the series goes viral, and it has received an enormous number of new entries in the past years, mostly on Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo Switch is looking for its initial release from the long-running franchise with Kirby Star Allies. There is a thing to note about the video game is that the player should not come into it expecting the specific challenge. Part of colourful and childish appearance as it mentioned above comes from the stages and accessible mechanics. Art-Style
The game starts with beautiful HD visuals, offered by the hardware of Nintendo Switch. It may seem like the point at the time where consoles are hitting the 4K resolution at 60FPS, but it is the first time when the player will experience the Kirby game rendered in HD. It mainly focuses on the Multiplayer experience and allows up to four players who can cooperate through the game simultaneously. Storyline
The game is set on the planet Jambastion very far away from the home planet of Kirby, a dark crystal heart destroys due to the strange ritual, sending the fragments, Jamba Hearts, hurling into the massive space environment. Lots of characters including Meta Knight and King Dedede are possessed while interrogating the hearts. After that, the heart hits the main character Kirby but offering him the capability of befriending enemies by throwing hearts instead of absorbing them. As the story advances, Kirby notices that Waddle Dees are bringing lots of foods to Castle Dedede and he decides to investigate to unearth the secrets.
Gameplay
The game takes place in the 2.5D environment and revolves around Platform elements. In-game, the player controls the titular protagonist Kirby of the series, who is accompanied by three other AI characters. Now, Kirby has the ability to throw hearts at foes to transform them into allies. The player can enjoy the game alone with the AI companions of the game or co-op with his friends. New special attacks become visible when Kirby has partners, which enables him to mix his abilities with his allies to create the powerful attack. There are three allies available such as Friend Action, Friend Star, and Friend Train. The game also brings the Dream Friends on Kirby’s side, which are really cool characters from the previous games of Kirby, like Coo, Kine, Rick, Goldenslot, Gooey (Dream Land 3), and more. The game lets the player experience the exciting gameplay and enjoys all the content with buddies, finding all possible combination of impressive abilities, while introducing different strategies.
