It’s been more than a year since Warriors Orochi 4 was released and Koei Tecmo has had a tonne of content added to the game since its launch. The base game was great and the DLC added via the season pass was too. What makes the “Ultimate” version worth picking up then you might ask? Well, there’s a couple of things here that are incredibly welcome additions to the game.
Original Game Quote ‘Overall, with a cast of over 170 characters to play as, an absolutely insane amount of character dialogue and an equally insane amount of enemies to slay, Warriors Orochi 4 will keep you busy for hours and hours on end. The story mode featuring missions that take anywhere from 7 to 20 minutes each to complete results in satisfying battle sessions that are rewarding. The gameplay is excellent despite being repetitive hack and slash based since it is quite simply, incredibly fun and implemented in a non-aggravating non-grindy manner. The sheer number of characters each with unique weapons makes Warriors Orochi 4 a must-buy game for fans of the musou game genre and is quite easily one of the best fun games of 2018.’
Season Pass Quote ‘Overall, the season pass content for Warriors Orochi 4 is extremely well priced given the sheer amount of content it added to the game. The 10 additional stages, the sacred treasures and mounts breathe more life into the game and further enhance its longevity. If Warriors Orochi 4 kept you busy for hours on end back when it released, the season pass is definitely worth picking up thanks to all the great content added. Koei Tecmo did DLC right this time around by releasing a well priced season pass with enough content to keep seasoned veterans satisfied.’
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate Update Overview Continuation;
First and foremost, if you haven’t bought Warriors Orochi 4 yet, if you purchase the base game now, you’ll automatically get a lot of quality of life game improvements thanks to Ultimate’s release. You will however not get the previous DLC so don’t be fooled by the game’s name. You’ll still need to purchase the previous DLC separately or via the season pass.
Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate brings a range of new content to the game. The story mode gets an additional chapter and there’s now an “Infinity” mode available from the main menu once you complete the main story. There are few more characters that have been added to the game. These being Ryu Hayabusa, Joan of Arc, Achilles, Hades and Gaia. The UI has also been changed a bit with the characters being displayed quite differently to how they were previously shown on the party menu.
The game has also had its Sacred Treasure system changed to allow swaps now and there’s a new aspect of levelling up your characters which allows you to reset them back to level 1 so that you can further enhance them. This is honestly one of the most welcome changes since it effectively allows you to continue playing the game and progressing to your heart’s content (or until you finally get bored of button bashing your way to victory).
There isn’t much else to mention here that hasn’t been previously covered. It’s Warriors Orochi 4 with a fresh coat of paint applied and some additional story content. If you’re a fan of button bashing musou games, this will appeal to you. If not, you should look elsewhere for something to spend your time on. Fans of the genre though will definitely enjoy this game.
