The Hall Effect keyboard market is exploding right now. Every manufacturer seems obsessed with chasing ultra-fast response times, adjustable actuation points, Rapid Trigger functionality, and esports-level performance. In many ways, the EPOMAKER HE108 Duel 8K represents exactly where the industry is heading.
This is a full-size Hall Effect gaming keyboard loaded with features normally reserved for far more expensive hardware. You are getting tri-mode wireless connectivity, hot-swappable magnetic switches, 8K polling, RGB lighting, gasket mounting, adjustable actuation, SOCD functionality, and a gigantic battery packed into one surprisingly affordable package.
On paper, it sounds almost too good to be true.
And honestly? In many ways, it absolutely delivers.
Gaming performance is exceptional. Features are stacked. Responsiveness feels elite. Yet despite all of this, I kept feeling like something was missing during my time with the keyboard.
Maybe it is the sound profile. Maybe it is the typing feel. Maybe I genuinely miss the deeper, richer personality of a truly premium mechanical keyboard. Or maybe I simply love RGB lighting blasting through every single keycap rather than just illuminating the letters themselves.
I genuinely do not know.
What I do know is that the EPOMAKER HE108 is one of the most technically impressive keyboards I have used this year, even if it never completely won me over emotionally.

A Feature List That Feels Almost Ridiculous
The first thing that immediately stands out about the EPOMAKER HE108 is just how much technology has been crammed into this thing.
According to the official specifications, you are getting:
- 8,000Hz polling rate
- Hall Effect magnetic switches
- Rapid Trigger support
- Adjustable actuation down to 0.005mm
- SOCD and DKS functionality
- Tri-mode connectivity
- 10000mAh battery
- Hot-swappable switches
- Per-key south-facing RGB lighting
- Gasket-mounted design
- Five layers of sound dampening
That is an absurd amount of hardware and functionality for a keyboard sitting around the £100 price range.
The keyboard itself looks clean and modern. The full-size layout is refreshing in a market dominated by compact 60% and 75% designs. Having a proper numpad again made me happy, especially when balancing gaming with work tasks.
The build quality is solid, although you can definitely tell this is not trying to compete with ultra-premium enthusiast keyboards costing three times the price. The ABS chassis keeps weight manageable, but it does slightly impact the premium feel compared to heavier custom boards.

Gaming Performance Is Outstanding
Where the EPOMAKER HE108 absolutely shines is gaming responsiveness.
The Hall Effect switches feel incredibly fast, and the adjustable actuation settings genuinely make a noticeable difference in gameplay. Once dialled in properly, movement and key registration feel almost instant.
The 8K polling rate combined with Rapid Trigger support creates an incredibly snappy experience, especially in fast-paced games requiring rapid directional movement or quick reaction times.
For pure gaming performance, this keyboard punches well above its price bracket.
No Rest for the Wicked Feels Fantastic
I spent a significant amount of time using the HE108 in No Rest for the Wicked, and the keyboard performed brilliantly.
The precision of the Hall Effect switches worked extremely well during combat-heavy encounters where movement timing and quick reactions matter. Dodging, attacking, and rapidly repositioning all felt smooth and responsive.
One thing I especially noticed was how effortless repeated inputs felt during extended sessions. The responsiveness never seemed to fade, and movement remained consistently sharp throughout longer play periods.
The adjustable actuation also allowed me to fine-tune the experience exactly how I wanted it, which genuinely makes a difference once you get used to it.

Resident Evil Requiem Highlights the Keyboard’s Speed
Resident Evil Requiem was another excellent showcase for the keyboard.
The faster responsiveness of the Hall Effect switches gave movement and aiming a very immediate feel. Quick turns, inventory management, and reaction-heavy encounters all benefited from the ultra-responsive inputs.
Horror games especially benefit from controls that feel reliable and immediate, and the EPOMAKER HE108 absolutely delivered there.
The RGB lighting also looked fantastic during darker gameplay sessions. While the illumination itself is strong, this is actually where one of my strange frustrations with the keyboard started appearing.
Replaced and the RGB Dilemma
The RGB lighting on the EPOMAKER HE108 is actually one of the keyboard’s strongest visual features. Unlike many gaming keyboards that only allow light to shine through the letters themselves, the semi-transparent keycaps here let the RGB flood through the entire keycap
The result is a far brighter and more dramatic lighting effect across the whole keyboard. During late-night gaming sessions with titles like Resident Evil Requiem and Replaced, the desk glow looked fantastic and gave the keyboard a much more vibrant gaming aesthetic than standard shine-through designs.
Ironically, despite how visually impressive the RGB is, I still found myself feeling like something was missing — and I think that comes more from the typing acoustics and overall personality of the board rather than the lighting itself.
And honestly?
I think I have realised something during my time with the EPOMAKER HE108.
I really, really like aggressive RGB.
I like that over-the-top gaming aesthetic where the entire keyboard lights up your desk like a cyberpunk nightclub. The EPOMAKER HE108 looks modern and tasteful, but part of me kept wanting more visual personality from it.
That is obviously subjective, but it genuinely impacted my overall emotional connection to the keyboard.

The Typing Experience Is Good… But Not Great
This is probably where the keyboard becomes more divisive.
The typing experience itself is absolutely competent. The gasket mount softens things nicely, stabilizers are decent, and the switches feel smooth. EPOMAKER also includes multiple layers of sound dampening inside the board to improve acoustics.
Yet despite all of that, I never completely fell in love with the sound profile.
There is a certain depth and character you get from truly exceptional mechanical keyboards that feels slightly absent here. Several reviewers and keyboard enthusiasts online have raised similar points about some Hall Effect keyboards in general, arguing that while the technology is incredible for gaming, they can sometimes lose some of the personality and satisfying acoustics traditional mechanical boards provide.
The EPOMAKER HE108 sounds perfectly fine.
But “perfectly fine” is not always enough once you have experienced truly amazing sounding keyboards.
Software and Features
The software suite offers a huge amount of customization, including:
- Rapid Trigger tuning
- SOCD configuration
- Actuation adjustment
- Macro support
- RGB customization
- Key remapping
Feature-wise, EPOMAKER deserves serious credit here.
However, software quality still feels like one area where brands like Razer, Corsair, and SteelSeries maintain an advantage.
I did do some homework on EPOMAKER and found that some Reddit users have criticised the software ecosystem and long-term support reliability.
Thankfully, during my own usage, I did not encounter any major issues.

Final Verdict
The EPOMAKER HE108 Duel 8K is a technically outstanding gaming keyboard.
Its Hall Effect implementation is excellent, gaming responsiveness is elite-tier, battery life is massive, and the amount of features included for the price is honestly kind of ridiculous.
Games like No Rest for the Wicked, Resident Evil Requiem, and Replaced all felt fantastic to play with this keyboard thanks to the incredibly responsive switches and highly customizable actuation settings.
The RGB lighting is also a genuine highlight. The transparent keycaps allow the lighting to shine through the entire board rather than simply illuminating the letters, creating a vibrant and eye-catching desk setup that looks fantastic during late-night gaming sessions.
Yet despite all of those positives, I never completely connected with it emotionally.
I think that mainly comes down to the typing acoustics and overall feel. While the keyboard performs brilliantly, it lacks some of the deeper sound profile and personality that enthusiast mechanical keyboards can deliver.
Still, if your priority is gaming performance first and foremost, the EPOMAKER HE108 absolutely deserves serious attention.
The EPOMAKER HE108 Duel 8K delivers exceptional gaming performance, stunning RGB lighting, and absurd value, even if its typing acoustics stop it from truly reaching enthusiast keyboard greatness.
