Konami has announced that its forthcoming PES 2019 title will feature Turkey’s Süper Lig for the first time.
KONAMI has strived to add the world football’s greatest competitions to its popular football simulation, with the Süper Lig becoming the eighth new top-flight division to be confirmed coming to the latest addition to the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise, PES 2019. The new deal will allow KONAMI to feature all 18 competing clubs and use of all iconography associated with the Süper Lig. All clubs will be represented in their correct kits through post-launch data pack releases and ensure that all stats and squads are updated on a weekly basis.
Established in 1959, the Süper Lig sees eighteen clubs compete for the title, including the likes of Galatasaray A.Ş., Fenerbahçe A.Ş., Beşiktaş A.Ş. and Trabzonspor A.Ş. The Süper Lig is regarded as one of the most competitive leagues in the world, with its passionate fans and ear-splitting match days showcasing hotly-contested matches every week. Only five teams have ever won the league since its inception, and the coming season will be extremely competitive.
To celebrate the addition of Turkey’s top flight, KONAMI has also secured Turkish midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu as a local Ambassador. Çalhanoğlu, who is a Turkish international and plies his trade in Italy, has scored 51 goals in 192 league appearances. Capped 33 times by Turkey, scoring eight goals, he is seen as one of the country’s greatest prospects. The midfielder will be used for local promotions and will also appear alongside PES 2019 global cover star Phillipe Coutinho on a specially-created Turkish packshot.
“Turkish football is blessed with the most fantastic level of support and for many years we have had request after request that we add this dynamic league to the PES series and that moment has finally come,” said Jonas Lygaard, Senior Director Brand & Business Development at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “We are delighted to secure the Süper Lig for inclusion within PES 2019 and will ensure that the passion and skill that shines from every game will be perfectly recreated. All 18 teams will be fully realised, and we look forward to showing our efforts in the coming months.”
“The PES series is known for its skill and control, so I am very happy to be representing such a fine simulation of the modern game,” said Hakan Çalhanoğlu. “Turkish football is exciting and skilled, so I look forward to seeing KONAMI’s skilled teams bringing it to life for everyone at home.”
PES 2019 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC STEAM, on August 30th. PES 2019 will be available in two physical editions, with new global ambassador Phillippe Coutinho on the front cover of the standard edition and David Beckham on a special edition which gives fans the opportunity to unlock myClub bonuses.
