Critically acclaimed indie adventure Kena Bridge of Spirits is heading to a brand-new platform. Award-winning developer Ember Lab has confirmed that the beloved story-driven action adventure will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2026.
The upcoming release will feature the complete version of the game, including all updates released since its original launch. This means Switch 2 players will get access to the Anniversary DLC, the New Game+ mode, and various gameplay improvements introduced over the years.

A Beloved Indie Adventure Reaches a New Audience
Originally released in September 2021, Kena Bridge of Spirits quickly became one of the standout indie titles of its generation. Developed by Ember Lab, the game blends cinematic storytelling, puzzle-solving, exploration, and fast-paced combat within a beautifully animated world.
The game went on to win several major awards, including Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game at The Game Awards 2021.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 release, the studio hopes to introduce Kena’s journey to an entirely new audience.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring Kena’s journey to a whole new audience, giving players the chance to experience her story at home or on the go with Nintendo Switch 2,” said Josh Grier, Chief Operating Officer at Ember Lab.
He also added that the continued support from fans since the game’s original release has meant a great deal to the development team.
A Journey Through a Forgotten World
In Kena Bridge of Spirits, players step into the role of Kena, a young Spirit Guide searching for the sacred Mountain Shrine.
Along the way, she must help trapped spirits find peace while restoring balance to a once-thriving village that has fallen into decay.
The adventure blends exploration, environmental puzzles, and intense combat encounters with a mysterious narrative that slowly reveals the tragic past of the world.
Players are assisted by the adorable but powerful Rot, tiny spirit companions that help manipulate the environment, fight corruption, and uncover hidden secrets scattered throughout the forest.
Anniversary DLC and New Game+ Included
The Nintendo Switch 2 version will include the game’s major post-launch content update, the Anniversary DLC.
This expansion introduces several new gameplay features designed to deepen the experience:
- Charmstones that modify gameplay with unique advantages and challenges
- Spirit Guide Trials offering combat challenges and skill tests
- Additional Kena outfits and customization options
- Accessibility improvements and gameplay refinements
The release also includes New Game+, allowing players who have completed the story to start a fresh playthrough while keeping previously unlocked upgrades, Rot companions, outfits, and abilities.
Enemies and combat encounters are also redesigned to offer a greater challenge for returning players.
Fast-Paced Combat and Exploration
Combat in Kena Bridge of Spirits mixes melee attacks, ranged abilities, and spirit powers.
Players must battle corrupted spirits that stand in the way of restoring balance to the land while mastering Kena’s growing arsenal of abilities.
At the same time, exploration plays a huge role in the experience. Hidden areas throughout the world reward players with collectibles, upgrades, and cosmetic items such as the charming Rot Hats used to customise your tiny spirit companions.
The world itself is filled with environmental storytelling, hidden paths, and puzzles that encourage players to explore every corner of the beautifully crafted environments.
Coming to Switch 2 in 2026
When it launches in Spring 2026, the Nintendo Switch 2 version will give players the opportunity to experience the full adventure both at home and on the go.
Until then, Kena Bridge of Spirits is already available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
With its stunning animation, emotional story, and engaging gameplay, the game remains one of the most beloved indie adventures in recent years—and soon it will finally arrive on Nintendo’s newest platform.
