During EVO Vegas 2025, SEGA delivered a knockout announcement: Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage will launch digitally on October 30, 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release arriving at a later date. Packed with cross-play, rollback netcode, and a new single-player “World Stage” mode, the iconic fighting franchise is stepping back into the spotlight.
Closed Beta Incoming
Players eager to get their hands on the action can sign up for the upcoming closed beta test in early September. Available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, this beta offers a chance to earn an exclusive in-game title. To sign up, PS5 and Xbox users will need a SEGA Account.
New Single-Player Experience: World Stage
World Stage is a completely new solo mode where players battle through a series of powerful opponents in pursuit of becoming the ultimate fighter. As you progress, you’ll unlock customization items and build your reputation. This feature will be available for free at launch.
Fans can also participate in naming NPC fighters that appear in World Stage by submitting their ideas on the official Virtua Fighter Discord server before August 23.
Welcome Back, Dural!
After a long absence, Dural—the mysterious boss character—returns as a playable character via paid DLC. However, she won’t be allowed in official SEGA tournaments like the Virtua Fighter Open Championship.
Pre-Orders & Editions
Pre-orders are now live for both the standard and 30th Anniversary editions:
- Standard Edition: £14.99
- 30th Anniversary Edition: £54.99 – includes all DLC, exclusive costumes, a soundtrack, ranking titles, and pre-production artwork.

Upgrade Paths for Existing Players
PS4 to PS5: Owners of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the PS5 version of R.E.V.O. World Stage for just £7.99. All previously purchased DLC will carry over automatically.
Steam: Existing owners will get a free upgrade to the World Stage version with no loss of content.
