Pragmata is less than a month away, and now is the perfect opportunity to try out the Pragmata Sketchbook Demo Capcom has graciously made available for free. It’s available to everyone on both PC and Console to enjoy and comes in at slightly less than 8 GB in download size.
I downloaded it and gave it a go ahead of the full game’s release, and boy oh boy, I can already tell that Capcom have another banger on their hands.

Pragamata Sketchbook Demo
Capcom’s newest IP, Pragmata, has been in the works for a long time now. We’ve barely seen any gameplay from the game, and the trailers show off some rather crazy mech battles. Does the Demo show this off, too, and is it worth playing through?
The Sketchbook Demo kicks off with Diana, an Android, busy drawing something on the floor while Hugh, her human companion, is fighting some robots. Hugh eventually needs some help, though, and enlists Diana’s advanced hacking capabilities. Using Diana’s skills, players will be able to perform a hacking mini-game while aiming at enemies, which involves pressing the controller face buttons in the direction you want to hack. Reach the core, and the enemy you are hacking will get stunned or have their weak parts exposed for Hugh to shoot at. Shooting at these points deals massive damage and is essential to victory.

Gameplay and Mechanics
Pragmata plays out like a third-person shooter with some light exploration elements. The demo unfortunately doesn’t show off too much of the game, coming in at around 15 minutes of gameplay time. It does, however, give you a taste of what’s to come. The movement is extremely fluid when jet boosting around, as Hugh and the aiming and hacking mechanics are very well woven into the combat.
Players will have to do some light platforming, too, with hacking elevators and containers to access different areas. Additionally, players have access to escape hatches, which in the full release will take them back to a base camp. Unfortunately, in the demo, these were disabled and only served as a save point.

Boss Fight and Presentation
Pragmata’s Sketchbook Demo concludes with a boss fight, which sees Hugh face off against a rather large mech unit. This fight is quite intense, and if the full game has more battles like this, players will be in for a treat. The voice acting is also great, with Hugh and Diana sounding believable.
Final Verdict
Overall, the Pragmata Sketchbook Demo was great. The gameplay mechanics flow perfectly with Hugh and Diana’s shooting and hacking being great in battle. The movement is fast and fluid, and the environments and visuals are top notch. Pragmata releases on the 17th of April 2026 and I honestly cannot wait to dive into the final release build! Be sure to give the demo a try yourself to see if this game is something you’d enjoy.
