As a parent of a young daughter, I have watched many a children’s show, so no wonder we had to get Gabbys Dollhouse Ready to Party, from Paw Patrol to True and the Rainbow Kingdom. But none has captured my daughter’s obsession than Gabby’s Dollhouse Ready to Party. She loves the show to bits.
I’ve got her the actual dollhouse with all the different characters to play with, along with many other toys from the show. She is so excited for the movie, and she has played games on her tablet based on the show. So when a video game of the series was in the works, this certainly piqued my interest, and as a parent, your child comes first, and I instantly thought of how happy playing Gabbys Dollhouse Ready to Party would make her.

Daddy, Can We Play the Gabby Game?
And how right I was.
The phrase over the past week that has been floating around our household is “Daddy, can we play the Gabby game?” She loves it to bits.
And what makes me even happier is that Gabbys Dollhouse Ready to Party is her first introduction to console video games. This memory will be engraved in her for years to come. She even said to me while playing, “I’m a little gamer now”.
Simple, Child-Friendly Gameplay
Yes, she thoroughly enjoys it, and the main reason is due to the simplistic controls that make playing the game so easy for a 4-year-old. You have the left thumb stick to move Gabby about, and then A to jump and interact. This simplistic approach makes things super easy for your little one, along with the easy level design, where the path for Gabby to walk is laid out in a literal straight line. It was nice to sit back and watch my daughter play the game with only a few ‘Daddy, can you help me’ and the controller passed over to me to help her with areas she struggled with.

Just Like the Show
In terms of the story, the game plays out very much like the show. Gabby and Pandy have adventures throughout the dollhouse in order to collect items to throw a party for Marty, the party cat. The art style of the game is very reminiscent of the show, with nice bright colours and fun cutscenes for your little one to enjoy. Watching it reminded me of when I played one of my first console games back on the original PlayStation with Rugrats Search for Reptar.
Bright, Welcoming, and Full of Joy
Using this art style and simplistic approach has benefited my daughter’s enjoyment of the game. It’s bright and welcoming, just like the show. The story is familiar with the original voice cast so as not to cause a separation from what she is used to. And the controls are easy, so it’s not a challenging experience. She can simply pick up, play and have a fun time with Gabby and the gang.

A Parent’s Reflection
Now, looking at this game as an adult gamer, you can see that the graphics and controls aren’t up to the standard of modern games. But then you have to remember this isn’t a game designed for you, it’s for your children to enjoy and make memories with. We only want to make them happy, and this game has done just that and also created a father-daughter experience which I shall cherish forever. For that, I’m grateful.
Final Score
For the score of Gabbys Dollhouse Ready to Party, I decided (with it being aimed at my daughter to play) to ask my daughter what she would give it out of ten. Without any hesitation, she yelled out with joyful glee, ‘10!’. So with that Gabbys Dollhouse Ready to Party gets a 10/10 for giving my daughter such an enjoyable experience and for a father-daughter memory that I’ll hold on to for years to come.
